7 New IP schools
-
Is the IP system really that novel?
In the older days before the JC system was introduced, didn’t all these high schools have a pre u section? and they don’t take "O" level? But go straight to "A" level or whatever they call it. -
IP may not really ensure that the life of a student would be smooth sailing. Some students may "slack off" or do other stuff instead of studying during the "O" level period.
Does everyone know the real reason of IP in schools like RI, HCI etc? The reason is that the "O" levels are simply too easy for the students. Thus, the school bypasses the "O" levels but the test papers that replace this national test is actually even more difficult.Being in IP also does not gurantee you a place in the JC. In HCI, you need to score an average of B3 to be eligible for the HCJC in which failing to do so will result you being kicked out from HCI.
Many people may see IP as a means to enter a JC effortlessly but the real purpose of IP to drill harder questions into the students. The "O" level is a national exam and must be moderated so that the weaker students would not do too badly. IP is just there so that the better students can do harder questions and of course, it also comes with its conditions such as like i stated before, an average of B3 for HCI.
IP is not for students to relax during the "O" level period, it is for them to train themselves for harder tasks, thus please do not think IP ensures you a direct admission into JC.
You have to work hard for it -

That's a given, but how is introducing 7 new schools related to the MT issue?[/quote]That's becos students who are weak in MT can apply thru DSA exercise to increase his chances of admitting into IP sch. Eg, a student who is strong in Math or Science or Sports, etc... but is weak in MT, will have higher chances of entering a good IP school compared to if he competes with others using this PSLE T-score.
believe this will depend on the competition amongst the applicants for these schools. COP i jus th T-scoe of the last person who gain etr to the schol, not something decided beforehandNebbermind:

Wouldn't you still need to do reasonably well at PSLE to get into the IP schools? Why is the introduction of the 7 IP schools related to the MT issue? -

Very well said. Totally agree.IP may not really ensure that the life of a student would be smooth sailing. Some students may \"slack off\" or do other stuff instead of studying during the \"O\" level period.

So you don't need to introduce 7 new IP schools to cater to those weak in MT. If DSA were the way, then have more schools offer DSA rather than introducing IP schools.

I think it will be effective with this batch since they have already planned the 7 IP School. -
