7 New IP schools

WeiHan:
Last time have to take O-levels, lah.Is the IP system really that novel?
In the older days before the JC system was introduced, didn't all these high schools have a pre u section? and they don't take \"O\" level? But go straight to \"A\" level or whatever they call it.
RI sec 4 going on to Pre-u 1 , must use O-level results. -
will the sec 1 batch this year be affected by this new ip system?

will the sec 1 batch this year be affected by this new ip system?
I think it will be effective with this batch since they have already planned the 7 IP School. -

Hmm... apparently the principa hinted already. Waiting for official. :celebrate:acelancer:

Thanks to the KSP parents for answering my questions earlier, I finally saw the light.
So the thought of the 7 new IP schools is to pander to those who cannot get into the first-tier IP schools due to MT? So instead of reducing the MT weightage at PSLE which caused many to see red, now they give more children the opportunity to go into IP schools?
Is it like cannot \"afford\" LV, then buy Fendi? :?
Actually I am rather impressed with this solution as it can put a smile on every IP-ambitious parent and child . Cheers to our leaders.. :celebrate:
My understanding of the birth of IP schools was because it was statistically shown that a fraction of the children in a cohort who did well in PSLE certainly made it to the university. So based on this hypothesis, MOE wanted to improve the curriculum for such group of kids and use their time more effectively to learn more things in the same given time instead of preparing for 'O' levels. At that time, 'O' levels was not designed by us I believe there was no way to tweak the exam questions to make it more difficult for these bright sparks, unlike PSLE. But I thought now we have the rights to set \"O\"level questions locally? I stand corrected.
By having another 7 IP schools, does it mean that our tuition/enrichment culture has generated more of such children to warrant 7 more schools to accomodate the accelerated learning path? :?
If the supply of such children is real, then the 7 new IP schools make sense and it is really an eye-opener for me that our children in Singapore are really very progressive, overtaking systems faster than we realise.
Otherwise......I rest my case.

Maybe people worry about banana money effect?
Why do you all want to speculate so much? Got offer, take lah!
I am rather neutral now and trying to understand the rationale of the thought process because reality has not hit me yet, just curious about the evolution of our education system.
