7 New IP schools

Only two IP (Cedar and VS) school will benefit the students (P5 now) who are taking PSLE on 2011 based on their Secondary 1 intake on Year 2012. That’s mean that our choices (either boy or girl) only increase by 1 on next year Secondary School selection. Wow, still very tough.

The way I see it, the addition of the seven more IP schools won’t affect the present COP of IP schools. Firstly because, the number isn’t big. Only 50 more for each school and they already have this number before they get IP status. It will be useful for some schools to stem brain drain. For example Saint Nick, MGS…the biggest winner is Cedar Girls School. They are already good, now get to associate with a better brand name VJC.


Can someone tell me what is the intake for MGS ,SCGS and ACSI after they reserve all the places for their affiliated primary schools?

RI/HCI/ACSI all have the same set up. They are all boys schools from Year 1-4 and in Year 5-6 they are co-ed.

the 50 more (total 100) is for 2011 intake.

i agree that Cedar really elevated itself...becos of her shorter history and lower profile, it cannot bring up its name solely by academic results and some very good cca performance...

and schools lke ri, rgs, vs, cgs have a bigger and more diverse pool of students that go there...mission schools need to take care of their feeder primary schools, while sap schools have a high proportion of chinese students

It may not mean anything at all, just to balance their life experience, but it is good. i remember last time at jc, those came from girl schools and boy schools (SAP sch especially) did not talk or hardly talk to the opp sex. Unlike those from co-ed sch such as DHS and RV who are more open communicating with the opp sex.
Came across one of my fren's dd who is attending a pr girl school. Whenever there are boys in the community, she stays away and stick to the mother. Marjority I spoke to always find co-ed school (primary) more balance for the kids life experience.

Do you mean that you are not aware that both schools are co-ed in Years 5 & 6? Or do you mean that you are aware that both are co-ed but you associate the names RI & HCI with boys schools?

And why would you think the ACSI is co-ed? The school is all-boys from Year 1-4 and only co-ed in Year 5-6.

Figure of only 50 frm each sch is totally incorrect. Cedar, st nick and cat high have hundreds each. Particulary cat high alone due to its recent years impressive results have more than 200 students qualify for IP ie 250 and above.

The new jc will have the necessary factors to be successful ie: outstanding educators/leadership, high ability students in cat high st nick and scgs and support from moe. Put simply, the govt will not support this new initiative if they are not confident that this new jc will be a strong institution. Alot of time and money are involved.
