Tamama:
as PM Lee said, all mainstream schools in Singapore are good schools.we are just back from the employment pass service centre. we spent quite sometime there and after that we somemore donno how to drive to the blangah school... sigh... thats why... :stupid:
oh the brand new school is still under construction? wow then i hope it will be on time finished to welcome all the new students and new teachers. getting my girl in the main stream school system in sg is better than letting her study in international school. thats what we believe. we hope this is a right choice...
if you live in Woodland, you would know, because everyday you see Malaysian kids walk across the Causeway to attend Singapore schools -

thanks for all your info and support, makes us having a good start here.
may i ask if it is possible to switch school in future? like change to a catholic school near our house? (i still don't know bukit merah region is how far away from toa payoh... haha...) is it i need to go to the school and put in the name for waitlist for P2? or need to contact MOE for arrangement?
thanks in advance. -

if the child's result is excellent, there is a high chance
officially, transfer between schools are not encouraged by MOE, as registration for Pri 1 stage would have sort out the preferences in terms of distances etc
however, there are always exceptions -

Actually, Cantonment Primary School is not far from Toa Payoh. The school straddles between Tg Pagar and Outram MRT stations, and these are about 25 minutes from Toa Payoh, by MRT. -
Hi Tamama, which part of toa payoh are you staying at? travelling to school that far would be time consuming. Why not put your child on waitlist for schools in toa payoh for easy of travel.

hi, we will live in thomson lane. i will try waitlist my girl into some catholics school nearby, but i know the chance is slim, provided our status as foreigners. so have to figure out the bus routes and mrt routes and see how to get my girl to school. i have a younger one and i still have not found him a kindergarten. but i guess it is less urgent case.
anyway thanks for your suggestions.

Hi - Need expert advice, my kid secured admission in Cantonment Primary school for 2011, but it seems the school doesnβt offer Hindi, Is it possible to change her to Blangah Rise Primary school which offers Hindi in school, I really donot want to take her to hindi classes on weekends (spare the weekends free), hence looking at schools that offer hindi.
How do i go about doing this? approach Blangah rise school to enquire? -

You should call up MOE. -
Tamama:
Try Marymount Convent. The chances of transferring in is quite high. I have tutored a few foreign students and returning students who were preparing to take their 'entrance test' at different levels.hi, we will live in thomson lane. i will try waitlist my girl into some catholics school nearby, but i know the chance is slim, provided our status as foreigners. so have to figure out the bus routes and mrt routes and see how to get my girl to school. i have a younger one and i still have not found him a kindergarten. but i guess it is less urgent case.

From Thomson to Cantonment is quite though by public transport. If you drive then it might be easier via CTE.
How old is your younger one? There are quite a few preschools in Thomson area and most of them provide school bus service (can take another load off your mind worrying about transport).
