Sorry i3mum,

My piano teacher only teaches at yms, she doesn't do house calls. My ds's piano teacher also doesn't. They are the only 2 piano teachers I know personally. Why don't you place a post at the Personal Services thread. I'm sure you'll get some replies.

It’s ok no worries… heh just trying my luck for someone to introduce me. I did ask in another thread, but mostly don’t do home visits, and some didnt get back to me. I prefer those who has already engaged the teacher and recommendation.

A brand new C3 costs around $33K. For pre-owned ones, I guess it really depends on the condition & no. of years pre-owned. I believe you should be able to get a reasonably good pre-owned C3 for around $20K.

Imho, you don't need to limit the choice to only yammie, cos there should be other good pre-owned grands available at the same budget. I've read from piano forums that this local shop called Emmanuel & Sons is quite helpful & don't hard sell their 2nd hand pianos.

But this is just hearsay, cos I've never dealt with them before. I bought both of my pianos first hand.
              thanks for the info

I am hopelessly outdated since the last purchase 10 years ago

Oops, I havent heard of YU5 yet.. heheh I think better don't! Will heed your advice 🙂
Better don't let her try YU5 then, otherwise more :moneyflies:

Maybe that's because I gave you the wrong model. What I meant is actually YUS5, the top model of yammie's upright range. I think it has the sostenuto pedal that is needed at diploma level. Doesn't she look gorgeous below 😄

                http://www.yamaha.sg/images/YUS5_L.jpg\">
it looks very much like my DD's very aged Yamaha U2

                  I have a U5 too.

By the way, most teachers (esp the good ones) don’t travel to the students’ home. And for dip level, you’ll need a good one to see the kid through. Passing the piano dip (ABRSM) is not easy. Level of expectation is high.

                    Hi jce,

Do you have any music school in mind which you can recommend for beginner (children)? Any teacher particular?

I’m a piano teacher… you can try Phileia Music at Goldhill Plaza. My friend is the director there. She doesn’t teach beginners but GENERALLY I think her selection of teachers are pretty decent.
