Both my kids have two pairs of shoes that will last for six months. I have this penchant to ensure their shoes stays clean and white so, by the 3rd day, they will be wearing the other pair.

I used to buy Nike or Reebok. But their feet grow so fast. $70 X 8 per year for school shoes a bit steep, so now I change to canvas shoes from Kiddy Palace, costing around $15.

Hehe, I also hardly wash the interior of the shoes. I depend on the sneaker shampoo from Bata. Makes the washing less tedious. As \"yours truly\" here is the maid, I have to find easy ways to make my job more manageable.

always buy the pvc or mock leather type for easy maintenance. just wipe and never wash the inside.

          Hi MMM

I'm not expert so cannot comment much but a shoe vendor once told me that a lot of shoes (especially those that are glued on) cannot be soaked as the parts could be weakened. Thus I'm not sure if this is a possible cause of your child's shoes giving way?
          MMM:

Ours seems to last only 1 term... despite the brand. So far the kids had Bata and the recent ones being Adidas and Nike. I think the issue is the the way my maid cleans the shoes. She likes to use all her ox strength to scrub.... this led to high wear and tear.

Just last week, we bought him a New Balance (around $60) and with leather. We educated her about not soaking too long and also don't use her ox strength to scrub the leather as it's not necessary. Hopefully it last longer now.

Actually my observation is as follows :
          1) The velcro came loose. This happened to the recent adidas shoe
          2) For cloth (Bata), there was a hole after few months
          3) For non-cloth material, the entire shoe still look very dirty despite wash.... As my maid scrub it so hard that the \"skin\" came off :stupid:

It was rarely a case of outgrowing but more of the reasons above.

Is this the record time set so far? :? 😉

Actually.... 1 term is an estimate... We are always shopping for school shoes and frankly we lost count after a while.

Last year, when my ds participated in lower pri sports game.... One of his classmates' shoes flew off when she was jumping over some hurdle... Shoes too big. The entire team was so upset with her as they could have come in first if not for the shoe incident. They still remember the incident till today.

same here...malemaid...normally just wipe with dishwasher and melamine sponge. Like someone mentioned, it's hardly white but who cares!! think they sit on the floor in school and the side will be grey within days anyway!

                Chanced upon this thread.

My DD started P1 at Yangzheng in Jan. Her shoes is a little worn out now, but it's already 9 mths. I hope it lasts till end of the year before we need to change. In terms of smell, I've not tried it, but I hope it's not all that smelly

                Now for the other part:
I read about Bata (which I wore when I was in pri sch 30+ yr ago), adidas, nike, new balance, reebok, etc. DD wears FILA. Has anyone tried that? Any comments?

                        Hi all

I jus bought a pair of raymax n comfortmax shoes each at sembawang pri sch for my sister’s children. the seller gave a receipt. it contains the contacts. apparently, e warehouse is in yishun. i dun hav e receipt right beside me but i rem it’s in yishun, industrial block A, block 1023 on the 4th floor, jus beside a medical warehouse. E number’s is 6555 2398.

I asked the seller what was so good bout e shoe. I was pretty impressed. According to e seller, prices range from $20 to $30 depending on size. And its a sch shoe combined w a sports shoe. 2 in 1. e shoe can use for PE, napfa test… etc. Y DO U WAN TO BUY ANOTHER SPORTS SHOE WHICH IS PROBABLY BRANDED WHEN THERE’S A 2 IN 1 SHOE?! not like as if branded sports shoe got 30plus tat kind.I also heard tat e boss designs the shoe himself. E holes at the sides of e shoe is to expel heat from wat i heard. and it’s anti slip. i tried rubbing e sole against the concrete ground. it works i tell u. I also found out tat raymax/comfortmax shoe is made from PU (poly uterine or smth like tat) which is man-made leather. Bata use PVC, or simply… lousy plastic. And yes, e shoe i bought is fully stitched. E damm sole wont drop out im sure. Overall, for e price i paid, i think its worth it.

Some might wonder wats e dif between raymax (red box) n comfortmax (blue box). e seller tell me its e same. jus tat sometimes no stock for certain size so they alternate between both.

Also, i bought comfortmax school bags. Cos there was this offer. Normal price $39.90. from a few days ago to while stocks last, e new price is $15. e quality’s not bad. plus there’s padding at e bottom of e bag so dun need worry bout heavy books spoiling the bottom of the bag.

K, tats all, jus tot i share it w parents who stil haven bought sch stuff for their children
