Dunman High School (Junior High)

Hi Augmum
Thanks so much for your reply to my PM which is really informative. I totally agree that DHS is a truly remarkable school, not only producing academically excellent students but also places great emphasis on developing students of good moral standing. It is definitely still the 1st choice for my gal, even though she's given CO by another school and despite it being much further away. We feel that the culture befits my gal and she's really impressed by the sheer size and facilities of the school.
My gal has found out that a few other school mates who have received CO and are also staying in the North, will be selecting DHS as their 1st choice too. They must have shared the same thoughts and vision about the school. Now, the next step is to check out the necessary transport arrangement (perhaps car pool with other parents staying in the North) and we're on our way!
Thanks again for sharing. -

Uβre welcome.
Glad to hear that DHS is yr gal's first choice of sec sch.
I am happy to share abt DHS too as i was also in the same position as u , trying to find out more abt this school last year.
And I had encountered helpful parents and pupils of the school providing me with much information.
(u can refer to the old pages of this thread for more info abt DHS)
Yes, besides academics, there are other factors which are equally significant when deciding for the choice of secondary schools.
A piece of good news for u.
Apart from the information i had given u regarding the public transport and the later flag raising time of DHS,
i have asked around for u and found that there are school bus operators which caters for DHS pupils from many parts of Singapore to DHS,
areas like yishun, sembawang, ang mo kio, pasir ris, punggol, etc are covered. (only for morning trip).
My gal has friends from other classes residing at the above areas.
There are also schoolbus services fetching the pupils from DHS to the 3 rd lang centre at a small fees shd yr gal takes up 3 rd lang.
Please call up the school to check it out from the bus operators for more information.
Cheers :celebrate: -

hi,keinic, my gal is also in DHS. we are staying in the north too. -
Hi Augmum, thanks so much for the additional info. It's a great relief to know that there's a transport operator who's willing to cover the North area. I'll contact the school for more details. My sincere appreciation for all your help. Cheers. :celebrate:
Hi nothing2do, it's a pleasant surprise to know that your gal's in DHS and statying in the North. I'm glad that there's one more supportive parent out there who is willing to send her child to a good school despite the distance. I'm sure you must have considered other pull factors in reaching the decision. May I ask how your gal commute to and fro DHS and what is the estimated travel time? This info will be helpful as I'm trying to find the most convenient way and shortest possible time for my gal to travel there. Appreciate your advice. Thanks much. -

glad that all those info are of help to u when deciding the school.
one more point to note, if u are taking the schoolbus,
there will be no \"advantage\" of coming to school later on days when the school starts at 9 a.m,
as the arrival time for schoolbus is the same throughout the 5 days.......
but not to worry abt being lonely, as u 'll see many pupils arrive early in the morning.... -
