All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

I normally go to the one near Paya Lebar mrt, think it’s called Jesslyn or something like that. So far my experience with them has been good. Yes, I’ve heard of Century but have not been there.

Do you have the contact no?

Visited the shop when I was shopping for a piano. Their pianos are priced higher than other 2nd hand shops. However, I heard the owner personally flew overseas to select those pianos before importing. So kind of ease of mind to have an experienced person to personally vet those pianos. For that, I made an offer (not exactly the ideal model but it' one of the newer ones in term of age). Nevertheless, cannot reach concensus in price after negotiation. For the price they are asking, somehow still not worth paying that much for a used set. Might as well top up a couple of $K to get a brand new
Have you heard of century piano ( Used to be at Liang court, now located at Kallang Leisure park)? -
Hi sleepy,
Thanks for sharing. I also went to the shop & took a look at the pianos. That's the only 2nd hand shop I have seen, not sure about the rest. Do you have any 2nd hand shop to recommend?sleepy:

just wondering, these 2nd-hand piano shops that import from overseas, what’s so much better than these sets than local sets?

Can't really recommend any 2nd hand shop since I didn't buy from any of them eventually. Can only share my shopping experienceHi sleepy,

The other shop you might wanna check out for comparison is Robert piano. They are Kawai agent and have some used set in their show room. Was quoted $6K, kind of their minimum 'fixed' price because for a 6 years old (told me just sold) & a 13 years old piano, they quoted the SAME price. So of course better to wait for newer ones. However, they ran out of newer used set when I was shopping for one that time.
Visited many 2nd hand shops, not comfortable enough to make them any offer. Besides Robert piano, Century is the other shop I feel comfortable enough to make an offer but too bad price not agreeable.
I bought a brand new eventually, peace of mind and better value in my opinion

Can share which brand did you buy eventually and how much is it?
The price I paid for a 2nd hand Kawai (import from Japan) is only 2K lesser than the brand new Yamaha (parts from Japan and assembled in Indonesia) that my friend bought.
Is this always the case or I've been conned??? -

At that time, Yamaha also having sales - an equivalent height U1 121cm brand new around $8K+
Century quoted $5K+ for a 122cm 8 or 9 years old Kawai ; Robert piano $6K Kawai
After collecting these data point and making comparison..... used set & brand new price differentiation are not substantial enough. On the flip side, the good thing is I now know resale price can hold, piano prices do not depreciate steeply like cars
