Hi,
I’m wish to apply PV in order to qualify my child in Phase 2B and wish to know if any parent here got their child into any of those hot schools under this phase through PV previously? And if you can offer advise on the following?
I had browse through a number of their PV application forms and am really at a loss on what is it the school wants.
I can’t help but feel like I’m writing for a job application without knowing what my role and responsibilities are. How do I then relate my relevant skills and expertise to sell myself in the application in order to even get an interview for the job?
In my opinion, for categories such as like library and administration support, gardening, decorations and etc, I presumed many of those PV applicaions will say yes and be able to offer help in these area.
Correct me if I’m wrong?
In terms of CCA categories, sports wise, I was the assistant captain of the badminton club back in old school but that was 2 decades ago, so the ability to coach…or assist…uh…What is expected of me from PV’s in this arena? Enrichment in terms of arts and drama, I’m not that type and so really got nothing I can offer to the school.
I understand that the school go through the applications and shortlist for interviews. Espectially those hot schools, they probably have limited PV vacancies over the number of applications they received.
So how can one’s application be distinctive that the school will shortlist them for the interview? Or it’s a no win for a case like me with no academic nor sports related testimonials to offer?
There’s one thing which I think I might fit in is that I’ve recently enroll myself with British Council to take up their teaching course for young learners aged from 3 -6. And I intend to progrees to their 6 - 16 course once I complete the earlier one. I am not in teaching profession but enrol the course because I want to be a better and effective tutor for my child in terms of English Language. So I can offer ideas that I’ve learnt from this course to assist teachers in coaching students in this areana or offer help to those students whom are weak in this subject on a voluntary basis during their remedial lessons in school or such?
Sorry a little lengthy here. As a 1st timer, I hope to get some ideas on how I can increase my chances to be shortlisted by the school of my choice upon my application.
Thanks and look forward to some help through this post. -
Correct me if I'm wrong for those PVs who got rejected/selected... with confirmed cases to proof lah... based on work experience.
Value-added advantage (Selected)
- With Accounting background
No value-added advantage (Rejected)

Of cos' there are other factors... list is not inclusive.

Daddy
hmm.. for me I have no accounting background and seriously im not sure why I got chosen either coz when I went for the interview, I thought I have already lost half the battle there as I was alone (mostly both spouses attended the interview) and my interview was a real short one.. I was barely inside for 5mins and during the 5mins process, all they told me was that if Im aware that only 50 will get chosen and as of that day I went for the interview the # of applicants is close to 300 already
