Speech Therapist

The sessions were eye-opening as it reviewed the mistakes which could have contributed to the speech delay.
Isn't that so? We also learned quite a fair bit and I considered it money well spent!
Do look forward to your boy's 3.5yo milestone; my ds2's speech progress hit a new high during his 3.5yo week (4 mths ago). It was an exciting week for us. Now, although he gets his tenses or description wrong, we are glad that he is able to communicate and joke with us.
That will be 3 months away for me.
we will see the same progress as you did. Though I know I will kinda miss his babblings because they can be so funny at times.

I'm afraid of the long waiting time at govt hospitals. So I would like to bring him to a private ST for assessment. Or a private PD who is good at child developmental. Any recommendation?
sheryl, re pte therapist, u can try leap-frogs (yes, i think there is a s at the end, its at bt timah near to KKH). I send my gal there for assessment under michelle and I think she is great. But did not followup with her due to high costs and inconvenient location (not near to MRT).
We went KKH instead.
Waiting time between referral at polyclinic to first KKH visit (with neonat before they assign us another appt with therapist) is i think a few months... but referral at polyclinic means u r under subsidised which will offload some of the costs issues.
Leave-wise, some of the therapists at KKH do work on Saturdays, but just once every 3 weeks, so depends on how frequent your kid need to attend therapy and which therapists u r assigned to, u might be able to get a Saturday slot (assuming u dont work on saturdays) which might be easier for u. -

Hi Sheryl
U can try Speech Inc Pte Ltd. Its located at Delfi Orchard #04-01. U need to call to make an appt for assessment first. Tel : 6333 8446
My 5 yr old son attends ST sessions there with Ee Laine. And he has shown improvements on speech pronunication and now the ST is working with him on the language area..

Dear sheryl,
Today I just made an appointment for my 3 yo son to see a private speech therapist. He just turned 3 yo and is beginning to speak words.
Between 2.5 yo and 3 yo, he was also babbling and we have brought him to KKH to do child devt. assessment and went for the 1st speech therapy session (for parents only). The next appointment for him will be in November (yah, long wait indeed!).
But sometimes I think it is intentional on their part because they may want to give the kid about half-year more to develop then see his progress?
All the best!
