Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
-
Hi Fuzz,
Not sure have you heard about "Qiao Hu 巧虎", i think it’s originated from Japan. My child is learning in Chinese Bridge language school and the centre recommends this cartoon to their students… My dd seems enjoy it very much. But i don’t think you can find it in pasar malam… Can try to contact the school if you are interested…[/quote]
Hi,

Hi VooVooVooVoo:

Maisy...thanks for your feedback! I withdrew and chose to forgo the deposit with Molin since I didn't give ample notice. My DS is now with Berries Kembangan....so far so good...at least when I asked him whether he liked Molin or Berries...straight away he answered \"Berries\"...the classes are not at full capacity - there are enough and not too many kids in the class (class size is just nice). Teachers seem OK as well.
I guess I also like that Berries has a reading book and their worksheets are not loose...like Molin's...need to go find folder to keep them
Thanks for sharing.
U may have mentioned earlier on but can i check with you is your child also an N2 kid?
Can u let me know which teacher is your child under? Chen Lao Shi or Zhu Lao Shi? I also think the lao shi in Berries Kembangan seems more engaging. Xie Xie Ni.
Need some advise. I am planning to put my girl with either berries or han. I like berries environment. Clean, neat. Han is very happening and lively. But I was rather surprised that the place for berries at woodlands commuity centre is very small and i hear children repeatedly saying in mandrain. The teacher in charge looks very nice and you can see that chen lao shi will not throw temper at children. But there is one thing that I am rather disturb is that they do not have follow up until secondary and the children have to carry their own tables and will not have chairs to sit until they are in p2. I was wondering what happens if the table drops on their feet. How? I have not tried to put my child for trial lesson yet but can I check with mummies who have tried if it good? Kindly advise. -

Thanks a lot! I'll try to see if i can get hold of this. It's suitable for pre-school kids?

Thanks jemlth!! I had a quick look at the links. They look v engaging! But seems quite adult and rather 'cheem'! Even I'm quite lost! I think maybe understand only half of the dialogue...
there are 2 Chinese classic cartoons that are of very good quality on youtube. Probably need some streaming but worthwhile to check it out.
1) 三国演义 - Romance of the three kingdoms.

2) 西游记 Journey to the west

I am not sure if the DVDs are available in Singapore. Has anybody seen these before?

Hi, you may consider to get a set of Romance Of The Three Kingdoms (10 books) which come in comic form and one 三国演义 in CL. DD read it last year and now when she watches the 三国 (acted by those China actor and actress) show it will be much easier to understand. Hope this info. useful.

Me too, do let me know. I am trying hard to get DDs to
brush up their Chinese. -
Hi all, I’ve called chinese bridge. They sell the Qiao Hu dvd in a learning kit, $29.90 for the kit. Each kit comes with some toys, book and a dvd, and it covers 8-10 units (i.e. themes/topics i think).
The lady I spoke to was v helpful but her explanation was all in chinese, so this is the info I managed to get with my ‘koyak’ chinese!
They have dif learning kits for age 3 to 6 yrs. The school is at Jurong East, but they can also deliver to Crestar branches becos they provide the Chinese enrichment at Crestar. So if u’re keen to order, u can call Jade 66657558. -
