I Can Read places my daughter in TCS and the teacher seemed a bit ‘cold’… my daughter loves the teacher in LCentral (Foundations programme trial class) and the teacher really got her to ‘speak up’ and she did much more beta during assessment in LCentral as compared to I Can Read… so… dilemma!!

LCentral claims their syllabus is much stronger than I Can Read…

Could you elaborate more on LCentral's syllabus, they say it is much stronger than I Can Read. Did you they show you their syllabus and when you compare to ICR, is it really stronger? For LCentral and ICR, are they both run by native speakers?

My ds went for I Can Read when he was younger. I don't know about LCentral.

But while I Can Read worked for my friends' kids, it did not work for mine. I felt it had to do with the teacher so it is better to find out more about the teacher teaching your child's class and see how he or she is like.

                Hi,

we went for LCentral's trial class and was shown all their materials, so HB did a comparison between the most basic level which our DD is currently attending..

He find that LCentral's materials is simpler as compared to ICR..

i asked the counter lady @ LCentral and they claimed their syllabus is stronger than ICR..

i've read this thread that for ICR for the basic levels, some centres/lessons may be conducted by non-angmos but LCentral claims all their teachers are native speakers..

                hope that helps..

Thanks for the information. 😉 Actually, I don't really mind if it is Ang Mo or not. ICR's content seems stronger from what you mention. I think I would need to go down and check. Do you know anything about Jan and Elly? Sorry to disturb you but thought you seem to know quite a bit 😄

                    Hi

I think we need to remind ourselves:

Ang Moh aka native teachers do not equal 100% good and delicated teachers. I have some experience with native teachers from my child's preschool to enrichment classes attended and not all impress me. Only consolation is they do not speak Singlish but on the other hand, some (minority) speak language that we do not like our children to learn too.. \"hi guys,\", \"hey man\".

                    Some are really good.
Some are just good at talking but no substance.
Some are good but they are not familiar with local children's needs and cultures..

                    So really depends.

                    Jus my opinion. 🙂
