SIA bonds interest will be at 2.15%…yup, can’t even cover inflation but for a risk-averse person like me who’s looking for regular income stream, maybe still a better option than FD sigh

Just managed to glance through some pref shares issued by local banks, their interest rate are not that bad after all…Most trade below par during the crisis period too…Sigh…why didn’t pick up all the bargains during the crisis period? No wonder they say investing is not for the faint-hearted…or rather, market timing is really out for me !!

Gold hits new high again…Any of you have experience with UOB gold savings account??

part of the reason of gold price increases is because the USD is depreciating, as the gold is sold in USD

IMHO it will keep going up.
If I have the money, I would buy gold (bars).

The price of gold is inversely related to the strength of the stock market. When stocks are doing well, gold prices will fall, and the converse is true. This is because people will take out money from stocks to buy gold as a safe haven when they are fearful.

If you think the stock market will continue to tank, then invest in gold by all means. However, don’t forget that gold has been oversold for a long time, and a correction might be round the corner. What is known at this point is that a strong support level is at the USD100 so it shouldn’t go below that even after any correction.

Somehow, I’m in love with real estates. So, when I plan for my nest eggs, after going round-and-round all kinds of other assets, I’m drawn back to properties.

And I’m still very positive about properties, especially in the long run !!

in this case, you can wait to buy at the bottom, or near bottom, if you already have a roof over your head now

property market when entered at the appropriate timing will out perform the economy due to population growth as well as scarcity factor of prime / good location. hence good locality is a good investment - it is the same in every city, large or small

the right property can be used as an heirloom as well as hedging for kids' overseas education funding need, after that use it as a hedge for retirement funding
