2010 PSLE Prelims

Hi all, my math teacher gave us this question from an unknown school’s prelim. I really need help.


Ahmad & Haris together took 5 days to paint a house. If Ahmad & Haris work together for 2days, followed by Ahmad working alone for 8 days, Haris will take 1 more day to complete the remaining work. How long will Ahmad take to paint the house all by himself?

Surfing on iPhone hard to type but I think the answer is 14days if I did not calculate wrongly.

There are more pupils in A than B. 30% of the pupils in A is 45 more than 40% of the pupils in B. If 10% of the pupils in A leaves to join B, there will be 200 more pupils in A than in B.

a) How many pupils are there in B?
b) How many % less pupils are there in B than in A?
(Leave your answer as a fraction in its simplest form.)


I got 2075 for (a) and 76/2/7 (76 is the whole number on the left of the fraction 2 over 7) for (b). Are my answers right?
