      Daddy 😧
Hey... your avatar very SOLID... how many years old birthday?

      Confirm u r ę…ˆęƍ....
I keep reminding my wifey... dun start on any \"challenging\" cakes for dd's birthday... else every year have to wreck our brains to out-do ourselves.
      Thank you Daddy D.
      DD's first birthday this Saturday.
Cake will be exact of the pic but with her name on it.
Total cost for 3kg, 2-tier cake, S$94, hope to feed 30 family members.
DD is the first and only grandchild (thus far) for both our families, so ....
The top-pink tier is strawberry shortcake flavor for the adults.
The green-lower tier is lychee-martini flavor for the kiddos.

      And I agree with you.
If you have not started, DON'T.

      :offtopic:
DH has never bought me any flowers nor chocolates either.
He'd commented to his friends and family that if I were a motorbike, I would be 125cc. I don't know whether to  or 😢

Unfortunately Not ALL students get to be posted to \"TOP\" school in their secondary years.
Many end up in NA, NT, etc .... (My God, Not even Express Stream!)

So what are our kids to DO when they are in these classes? (Transferring Out to Another school is Not an Option!)
Sure and bound to have other students who are not there to study, who smoke, who make noise in the class, who fights, who join gangs, ......
The toughest thing for the poor kid is to stay out of trouble. I ever asked him if he ever got bullied and he recited incidents like some bullies shafting wrappers into his shirt pocket, knock things off his table... It is really a jungle. His mum told me the importance of staying neutral no matter what had happened. In a way it is cowardice but what to do, it is survival.

                School Form Teachers' Advice (Really!):
                1. Stay with your own Group of friends who wish to study,
                2. Sit in front of the class (so you could hear clearer!) while ignoring All the Noise made by them (I must say that these Noisy Chaps are very \"zhi-dong\", at least they don't hog the front Seats!) and
                3. Of Course, Stay out of Trouble!

Well, on the other hand, our kids get to live in the \"Real\" world Early - No Illusion of \"A Perfect World\" out there .....

It is illogical to assume that all parents have to be teachers to understand the problems faced by teachers - there is no need to. enough said about teachers' problems

It is also illogical to assume all parents are unreasonable / over-protective over their kids for the misbehaviour of the kids

Just as it is absurd to assume all teachers are violence-prone, far from it.

This thread is just to high light that particular case as reported by the newspaper; and as reported, the principal has worked out an arrangement with the parents & child concerned. Infer what is not said and not reported

Adults should have higher tolerance than a kid. That is a given. It is not a matter of fairness. Teachers are looked upon as role-models of tolerance and forgiveness, and they are to teach and impart this value to the kids as much as parents are responsible for them. In the case of the reported teacher's violence, it is a bad example.

The above scenario is every parents' nightmare. So the best thing to do is really to ensure 101% that our kids don't end up with this lot. Sorry if I sounded insensitive here (but this scenario is a real phobia of mine).

atutor, I thought I read somewhere that all your 3 kids scored 270+ for PSLE? Case of mistaken identity?

I was lucky to have many siblings and in-laws who were teachers, warning me of the nightmare that our kids may face. I share the same phobia as you. My eldest kid really suffered under my ridiculous regime in order to get into a good school. Once the eldest set an example, it become easier for the subsequent ones to follow. However, I was too relax with my youngest. Now in the teens becoming hard to control - very lazy.
