Hi, I'm currently studying in CHIJ OLN and I'm a P5. I'm taking PSLE next year and I would like to ask: I'm taking Higher Chinese and they say that if you get at least a merit for Higher MT, you can get points deducted. Is this true? I'm not very familiar with PSLE stuff. Please help, all Aunties and Uncles!

Hi! You can only deduct bonus points for HCL if you apply for SAP schools. No deduction in points if you apply for all other schools. -

I think you're right. I just checked with dd and understand her classmate's model didn't have such feature. We bought it in May this year. The price was less than $50.00 (can’t remember the exact price) and is available in Challenger or Popular Book store etcrooney:

The duration to complete the entire paper 2 is 1 hr 40 min. I hope to find out the ideal time to set aside for 2 comprehension qn.
Set aside about 45-50 min for Paper 2 because the new paper 2 format has slightly more questions and needs more time to digest. -

The new model of Besta have. Those in P6 now would have bought the older model when in P4. However, from this yr onwards, for the same price, the newer model has this feature. I bought 1 for my son this yr and so the older sister is given priority to use since she is in P6.rooney:

Should be available in any Popular that has the Besta kiosk. If a particular branch runs out of stock, ask the salesperson to help you find exactly where else you may get it -save your timing hunting around. -
anyone knows how to write a Chinese Compo that can get 36-38 marks? i've only been getting 32-34 but not high enough. For English it seems that the longer the better BUT my chinese teacher says that I should limit to only 2 pages (without leaving lines) as I can be too luo suo. e.g. For shocked, you can just write 'liu shen wuzhu' instead of five descriptive lines.
So I'm quite confused. Write long or write short? I usually write 3-4 pages without leaving lines. Does anyone have a rubric sheet? Or just some general pointers on the charactistics of a 36-40 compo?
Thanks in advance. Please reply by Thursday so that I can prepare for PSLE on Friday.
p.s. this is a copy of post in the PSLE 10 thread so if you think it is an eyesore then delete...
