No special formula. My computation is based on raw score x 0.712.

The magic figure of 0.712 was derived from those years of sleepless nights, trying to figure out what my kids T-score would be and it is pretty accurate and consistent for a \"normal\" PSLE i.e. without killer paper.

If there is a killer paper and the student does well for that paper, his T-scope will be higher than that computed using 0.712. (the increment is more if you get A* for the killer paper). The reverse is true. The subjects that affect the T-score most are Chinese and Math so die die must do well.
      Hi actor2001
      :goodpost:
Your formula is user friendly and we at least can learn how to estimate for our children.

Noted your comments and that why's I am very concern over the quality of the CL compo. as well as the CL Oral.

      Thank you.

        Hi verykiasu2010

Sorry read your earlier post wrongly mistaken normal A* to be normal A.

let say high A* is 99 and normal A* is 93 then my bluff is T-score about 273
Haha, i tot i was the only one wasting DD time in speculating about the intricacies of T-Score, with all the ifs and suppose and what ifs.

Is there anywhere you can get the national mean score for each subject -past years?

My thesis  makes me feel that the constant (0.712) will vary for the ranges. ie it will be higher if a person scored all A* s. etc. and

By your logis for one who scores 100 in each subject, will get only 285 as T-score

Eg, last year one of my student scored 3 A* for EMS but he got B for MT, aggregate 240 go to neighborhood school.

Too bad he did not have DSA. I heard some GEP students were caught this way too, getting 240+ and no DSA.

that causes some panic to some parents now ...[/quote]Once you score a B in any subject your chances of scoring more than low 240 is very slim.

My two friends' son and daughter both got 4A each and their t-score were 238 and 239 respectively in last year.

last year, one of my gal's classmate scored 4 As
intially, her mum when heard her \"4 A\" was very happy.....
but later realised that the T-score was only 22X

              btw atutor,

I have read ur posts before about t-score. At that point never understood what you meant by low score in maths /Chinese can pull t-score down a lot.

Only when i palyed around with scores, SDs and means i realised how true ur conclusions were . So Thanks U.

Maths today- waaaaaaa, cant bear the tension.

 . 4A could be 238-239 and also could be 22X...., different almost 10 marks.

the mean for math and CL are usually higher than Sci and EL, and SD is smaller than Sci & EL

seems like there is a correlation between CL & MA

but bear in mind the 0.712 is an observation only, an estimate

every year the mean and SD for every subject fluctuates within certain range
