Hi,
My boy is sitting for his maths paper now too. Yes, let's hope this maths paper this year is a fair one. And indeed it's true, language papers are usually not the \"killer paper\"... the english paper yesterday seems easy to most of his friends. It's the maths & science papers that we are all concerned about.

My other child had sat for the psle last year. Yes , the maths paper then was a \"killer paper\" . .. but I think the science paper last year was not at all that easy too.
i guess this yr science will not be easy too, esp after 2 topics been removed

It is interesting to read that the kid called their parents between papers. Do you request your child to call you to give you an update? Isn't it giving your child pressure?Just now my DS called. PAper A was easy.. had 10 - 15 mins 2 check...
His friends also felt the same.
Hope the same happens with Paper B!!! -

Unless you are new to singapore , you should not be surprized... Kids education & they doing well is matter of self pride/ self esteem to most parents in singapore..
It is interesting to read that the kid called their parents between papers. Do you request your child to call you to give you an update? Isn't it giving your child pressure?anonymus:

Allow us to discuss PSLE -Maths 2010 please -
Since PSLE T-score is a measure of a child’s performance relative to his cohort. An easy paper is not necessarily "better" than a difficult paper. It really depends on the child’s strength in various subjects. If all papers are relatively easy, it will favor those students who are more careful and do not tend to make careless mistakes.
Since the absolute score does not really matter. I don’t wish for easy papers, just wish my DS performs at his best whatever is the difficulty level of the paper.
Even though it is probably true that foreign students, PRs are stronger in CL and MA. I don’t support the lowering of weightage in CL. If so, they may need to lower the weightage for MA as well. Since our kids are going to compete in the globalised environment when they grow up any way, it is ok for them to get used to the real world as a student. -

True. Math was a killer last year while Science was difficult too. In 2008, all the papers were not difficult.

Easy papers are not so good for students with good ability in the subject.. This is especially true for 'Maths' ... Last years Difficult paper really theo' the Std Deviation veryWide ... It benefited even 'Smart' ones & 'Super Smart' were very well rewarded
