â– GEP Screening Test: Friday 27 August 2010

            â– GEP Selection Test: (Tuesday & Wednesday) 19 and 20 October 2010

Good Luck to all p3 students 😄
My son is attending the selection test. Any idea how to give him a feel of how the general ability test will be like ? what kind of books I can refer to?

The best way is to just let them attend the selection without preparation. If the kids are gifted, trust the test that the real gifted ones will be able to be screened out.

Difficult to achieve since there are pte centres doing the coaching since the kid is in K1.

But you don't have to attend these classes.

any GEPers' parents here care to share what kind of charateristics your child display in early childhood? also other informations like:

were they breastfed? if not, what is the brand of the formul milk did they drink? what kind of food do they eat? (more seafood?)
                        are they mischievous?
                        .
                        .
                        .
                        .
                        .
My younger girl is a P6 GEP in RPGS this year may be I can share some of my observation of her early childhood characteristics. No special food yes breast fed when baby and yes, my P6 GEP girl still drinking instant milk every night before bed.

When she is a toddler she speak rather slowly and pronounce words wrongly but once she got it right .. she is real fast talker ..

As a 2-4 years old child, you can sense her mental alertness and sharpness in responding to surrounding stimuli

In N1 when the teacher gathered her with other kids to play cards, she is aways first to pick up and give positive response to the teacher.. When the new kid cry, she would automatically pick a tissue paper and offered to the new kid ... The teacher say she is so special ..

At the Yamaha keyboard music lesson, though she was sitting right behind the class (she is tall) when everyone is day dreaming and not responding to the teacher, she is always there with the right response ...
Yes .. music is good stimulation and key to cognitive and intellectual development of young mind...

At P1/P2, She seldom scored the perfect marks in Maths like the top girls in her class but we knew she is more of the careless type and as parent we are not the \"kiasu\" screaming at her type

At P3, when the kids were first introduced to Science, I remember both herself and another girl scored the highest in class during SA2 and the others were failing badly. Incidentally both of them were selected for the GEP Class at RGPS after the screening/ selection test.in August and Oct 2007.

I remember accompanying her to Kheng Cheng School for the 2 days GEP Selection test (2nd Round) .. She told me the paper was very easy (all her friend complain a lot) and she missed out the last back page but manage to realise it about 5 minutes before time ..and still manage to squeeze last few qns ... She was real super cool under pressure

She did'nt quite jelled with her P3 class mates and teacher and always complaining about being boring and had asked about \"changing school\"
Well, she got her wish and was posted to a more challenging environment

She is by nature a quiet person and don' talk much but she is a deep and intense thinker ... She can learn by herself without much pushing.. But all kids are naturally lazy and hence need the occassional prodding..

Since kidergarten till now, none of my girls received tuition for school works. Rather the money were channelled to their music and ballet lessons. We believe kids should learn to help themselves .. Yes they are considered \"mature\" and sensible compare to their cousins.

                        😎
