u can try out the demo set at ck tang or http://www.hogarmas.com/index.php
Wah vaccum once in 2 days? I think I'm quite terrible! We get a part time cleaner once a week, and other than that, we don't do any cleaning except the usual laundry, wash dishes etc. And sometimes if we cook simple dinner with no frying, we don't even mop the kitchen after that...daisyt:
Spend 1 hr each day on the floor, I guess your house is quite big.
I spend about 15 mins each time with Dyson to vacuum the floor. Now I vacuum it once every two days and its good enough. Mop only once a week except kitchen. Kitchen mop after cooking dinner.
I'm thinking of buying the leifheit floor wiper. Read some of the comments here, and still undecided. Is it easy to use and maintain?
for me, i wash the mop cloth in washing machine once every few weeks as it will become black after a few uses (however, despite looking dirty, it still cleans the floor well).
gotta take note u need rather strong fingers to remove the mop cloth and put it back agan. The demo set at ck tang is easy to remove, so don't be fooled. See if u can request to test out with a new set - just to remove and attach the mop cloth back.
i change the mop cloth after one yr, cost around $50 each. -
I don’t deep fry…this way, there is no oil on the floor or cupboards. Usually steam or make all-in-1 dishes. I closed 2 eyes where the windows are concerned. My housework is kept mainly to laundry, vacuum, washing loos.
-
I havent been cleaning my windows for eversince maid left 2 mths plus ago… like Janet, my main hsewrk is bascially, floor, toilet and laundry…
On saturday, I briefly wiped the window grills coz i find it too dusty… n mum has been cooking at her hse for the past 1 mth… so there isn’t a nid to really wipe my kitchen cupboards and windows…
Really sourcing high n low for a part time helper to ease my hse work load… -

agree the pail is heavy, so i just leave it in the bathroom and rinse the mop in there.
I have been using leifheit Twist System Floor Mop Set. No problem with the weight and i carry the pail from room to room. I think i am the worse, mop only once a week. I have an irobot too. But like what many mentioned, the kids' toys, mattress is everywhere. So lazy me many times just mop direct and make hubby clear the \"bunch of dirt, hair etc\" after the session. I'm very happy with my mop so far. Much better than scotchbrite. The only issue with this mop is that the mop has a special spinning head which is bit bulky. If u need to mop really low areas like under the sofa, doesn't do the job too well. Otherwise, no problem, use it even when i am pregnant.Mrs Ang:
I've been using leifheit floor wiper+mop press set for 1.5 yr, tho ex, it's worth it. It's as clean as scotchbrite micofibre cloth mop, but works faster as the mop is much bigger. Biggest adv is no need to hand rinse and wringle dry the mop. Just need to step on the foot press. Nowadays i don't even bother to sweep the floor. Just mop and pick up dust/hair at the same time. For more thorough cleaning, I use my osim mermaid once every few weeks.
I have the leifheit floor wiper +mop press set too but have not been using it for almost a year. The mop press set is quite heavy to carry around. -
Mrs Ang:
I also have problem picking those hairs that are stuck to the wiper. Is it because I have used the wrong wiper? Believe I'm using the micro fiber.
I am using the micro duo. No problem with hair sticking at all. Interestingly, it just gathers all the dust. Like when we sweep with a broom excpet the dust are all moist and gathers togethers and not fly everywhere. I have sensitive nose, so when i use my Magic mop dry, i sneeze non stop. No problem with my mop.

Thanks! Wash the cloth once in few weeks sounds ok. Quite managable. So you remove the mop cloth only when need to wash it right?
u can try out the demo set at ck tang or http://www.hogarmas.com/index.php

I get my child to help with the hsework. And believe me....he actually enjoys doing it. He now understands that hse work is tough and tries to keep his things clean tidy. So that lessen my work load.

What an interesting thread! So glad to find all of u!!

Took me awhile to go thru all the 49 pgs tho.
I'm a SAHM w 2 boys, 3 & 7yo. Been w/o maid since my DS2 was 19mo.
I've sent him to half day sch since so that I can spend time w DS1 & get some housework/errands done in the a.m.
Had my share of good/horrible maids over the yrs since DS1 was born & enough is enough! There was a 2yr gap when I didn't hv maid, as DS1 was in full day cc & DS2 not born yet. I had a team of 3-4 pax cleaning the place in 1hr as I was a FTWM then.
After the zealous 3-mth bout of cooking almost every meals, cleaning almost everyday etc when the last maid left, I've learnt to b quite R&R these days.
I still cook, but only 3-4 dinners/wk & half of these I'll invite my parents over (economy of scale, greater satisfaction & my mom volunteers to wash the dishes  ). DH will wash the dishes at other times, as my feet r v tired from standing too long. Think I'll get a dish washer in our next hse, now really no space.
Had thought of Roomba but worried that it will bang onto the piano in the living room + place is quite cluttered. So still vacuum & mop weekly & spot cleaning rest of the time. I don't mop kitchen after cooking as I'll put a big cloth on the floor b4 any cooking on stove. Intend to get my previous cleaning co. to spring clean soon & remove the curtains for laundry pick-up.
I'm definitely much happier w/o maid & the only time I missed the last 1 is when I put on weight. Ya, it was a v stressful 5-mth period w her & DS2's safety was often compromised when I left them alone for a mere 15-20min. -
Hi!
Just saying hello here before I read bk to get some tips…
I m a ftwm to a 4yo n 6 yo.
I think i’m v bochap, a bit influenced by my hb. He doesn’t do hw.
My maid left in dec 08.
We engaged cleaning company for once every 2 weeks.
I only do the daily dishes, weekly laundry n vacuum just to pick up hair n dust, not the whole house.
I’ve tried but managed to cook at most once a week
Am I very terrible huh?
