My son was in Grace 1...if he had been able to get good scores in P2, he would have the chance to stay in Grace 2...unfortunately that was not the case. If my daughter goes to Pei Hwa, I think she would be in Charity 1.

I recalled reading somewhere that the streaming at lower pri is to be taken with a pinch of salt cos the difference in marks between successive classes is negligible. So a student can easily jump from average class to top class the following year and vice versa. Again I thought I read somewhere that it is the streaming at upper pri that are more defining as the differential will be much greater amongst the students at those levels.

Anyone can confirm/refute my hypothesis? So if I'm right, then there's still time to catch up.

True. A lot of movement for lower primary but IMO, better to get into the better classes the earlier the better... to be more secure...近朱者赤近墨者黑 😎

            E3:
            php:

Hi E3, with her standard, first 3 classes should be within reach. However, the problem is she missed 2 papers during SA1 - EL 1 and CL 1 because of medical reason and the school did not allow her to take the 2 papers and was given VR in her result. Although she did well in the remaining 3 papers, she only got her grade in Maths. So, my question is how will she be allocate based on her overall result? Or the school will just throw her into the last class....If that is the case, then it will definitely hurt her badly.....

If 'VR' - Valid Reason is given to the two paper ones then the system will calculate SA1 scores for EL and CL based on the total marks from the paper twos. I should be clearer, the kids will be allocated classes based on overall percentage. Rest assured, she won't be posted to a class not to her potential.

For my child's case, not exactly like yours. She was transfered mid year and SA1 results in previous school were not taken into consideration. System used only SA2 to calculate. She was not disadvantaged w/o CA1 and SA1 results.

Sorry lah...shouldn't be so biased but life's not fair...young kids are influenced easily if they are not emotionally-stable...They spent more time in school than at home so can learn funny things from schoolmates...

I also agree. As compare with her classmates in ex school (P2-mixed abilities) and in PH (Gr2) last year, I did see significant differences, in term of diligence, maturity and obedience. But, well, to her, I just tell her to try her best, the rest, let God plan. 😉 Another I heard, not verified tho, that the teachers for the better abilities classes are usually more responsible, starting from P2.

The vendor headoffice is in Tiong Bahru? Did you get the name tags immediately or have to wait for another day to collect?
