[/quote]hi, i tot ortho-k lenses helps to slow down progression of myopia? u mean it actually reduce the power?
Hi from my understanding it will reduce the power as long as u are using the lens... Once u stop using it, the power will slowly returns to its original...
My 5 yrs old girl is highly myopic n dr rule that it could be due to her prematurity since both myself n dh are not myopic...initially we wanted to try ortho k but changed our mind since she is still young...she is now seeing Dr Yvonne ling from SNEC n the next review in Dec, she will need to do another image scan on the eyes for the doctor to compare with the previous image taken...if degree continues to increase rapidly, she will be administer with adopine eye drops... -
My brother was just talking about ortho k, as he’s considering whether to let his boy use it. His friend’s daughter used ortho k and it worked well for her. I think she went from about 300 degrees to less than 50 degrees.
I think diet and lifestyle are important. My whole family wears specs, parents, sis and bro. I’m the only one who doesn’t. I think it’s partly genetics but also because my sis always used to read books while lying in bed, while my bro played lots of computer games. Me on the other hand played with dolls, soft toys and lego, and preferred to run around outdoors. I also loved to eat carrots and spinach (thanks to popeye!). So now I make sure my boy eats lots of these too, and I limit the amount of time he spends in front of the TV and computer. -
Anyone try Ortho-K with Mee Mee Optics? Can share your feedback please?
I am staying in the west and check this forum for the recommended Ortho-k providers, looks like they are the only one nearby.
thanks -

No sorry but my brother's friend went to one at clifford centre and they were happy with it. He's considering going to this same doc. It's a pretty central location so you may want to consider.Anyone try Ortho-K with Mee Mee Optics? Can share your feedback please?

My son already has pigmentation on his both white eyeballs, before he turned 1 yr old. Now he is coming to 2 yrs old next mth.
I have brought him to see 2 different KK Docs during last yr & last mth. They both told me that my son's eye condition is ok, just like birthmark on our skin. It is common to them as they often met a number of infants/toddlers having this pigmentation on their eyeballs, but it is uncommon to me. The Docs have checked his eyesight to be ok.
Anyone of u have infants or toddlers who have this type of pigmentation on his/her white eyeballs?
Thanks...

Hi Barney, yes when we discovered it, she was in N2 n already 400-450 deg...we went to many paed eye doctor to get their opinion n just few months back, we were recommended to see Yvonne ling from SNEC by her paed doctor.....she is the doctor who suggested eye scan...just like x-Ray so she can compare n study the image... She was born premature n doctor rule it could be due to prematurity..imagine when we walked into the x- Ray dept, mostly were adult or old ppl..we always ensure she hv enough rest n sleep since young till now so that she dun stress her eyes too much...when we discovered she was highly myopic, we really suffered a shock n I feel sorry for her...however, we hv come tol accept it...at least she is only myopic n not suffering from any developmental issues which is likely happen to premature babies....our responsibilities now is to find a way to slow down the progression n to ensure good eye care....hi u mean when u found out your girl is myopic, she has already high power? Hi Barney, she will be due for her next eye review in November…according to the doctor, she will need to assess further before deciding to put her on adopine eye drop which can help to slow down the progression.doctors in kKh n SNEC will not recommend ortho k due the the risk of eye/cornea infections from the contact Lens…however doctor did advise that with the administration of eye drop, special spectacle must be made…the spec must come with progressive lens n transition lens…since eye drops will relax the eye muscles, the eyes will be sensitive to sunlight…and if I can remember the longest they will put the child on eye drop will be 2 years…we will need to wait for her next review for the doctor’s advise…
Currently, what we do is limit her tv programme n wii games…wii game is only allowed once a week/fortnight…when she is reading, we ensure she is reading with the correct lighting… More outdoor for her eyes to see far distance…
