      Hi b2b3m4,

It's a very scary feeling having a maid...esp when she looked like a zombie at times and we don't know what was going on in her brain. :nailbite:
Hubby was also worried the maid will drive me up the wall then and I'll appear in the front page of Straits Times for maid abuse. 😛

      Oh janet :rotflmao:
      But at least now you're stress-free, maid-wise anyways 😄

Yes, I'm freed from the stress of having a maid and wiser to their nonsense now. HahaHa.

Without a maid, we enjoy the freedom of not having a stranger in the house and also the freedom of leaving our belongings anywhere w/out worrying if they will end up in someone's pockets.

The best part is saving a lump sum of money...no need to pay salary to someone who shows black face, see doctor, pay levy to Govt for not doing anything to help employers...and also don't have to worry being murdered.
i used to tell DH, cant live with the maid & yet cant live without one. we went thru 5 maids since DS was born. the last one was the most problematic one & i get so frustrated to see house not taken care when i come home & she was v forgetful. FIL caught her watching porn on a HP given by another maid! who knows maybe fr her BF!

we sent her home after 9 mths when her loan was fully settled. she was most happy to go home.

like you, we enjoy more flexibility & happier even though we have to do the hse work ourselves with DS 😄

After 4 maids and all the problems they gave, I told hubby NO MORE MAIDS. Even my kids said, 'No pets, No maids in the house'. Daughter said, 'if you get a maid, she sleeps in the kitchen, not my room'.

We were so happy to send off the maid when younger one turned 4...although tough doing housework, but had mental torture having a maid. Hubby's pay never increased, but maid's pay had increment. :moneyflies:

Yeah, true...I agree. I don't like idea of maid in the hse. No privacy at all. Also, if you travel a lot, you will worry abt hse belongings. But, on the other hand, some maids are good. I have friends & relatives with live-in maids & the maids are ok.

I have also seen maids with the \"bochap\" attitude in my neighbourhood. I mean have you seen maids on the telephone for hours? The emplyers are working & the maids r constantly on the telephone. You do not know what they are up to.

I see maids yakking on the phone all the time…are they so in need of talking that they will die without a handphone ? Most of them who have a chance to yak are those looking after young kids, old people and bringing dogs out to poo.

Yesterday, DD and I were having our evening walk, we saw a lady scolding her maid. Apparently, the said maid had \"gone downstairs to collect mail\" for 2 hours. She was caught by her ma'am, yakking away with 3 other maids, while the family dog was on his leash, panting away, unable to poo, pee nor have a drink for 2 hours.

And her hands were empty, no mail collected as yet.

                :x

Not surprising. My maid took 2 hours to go to the market to buy something...when I pressed her for answer, she admitted she was talking to someone downstairs.

That's the problem! It's ok if they talk to other maids sometimes, they're human anyway and also need to interact. But it's a problem when they ended up talking so much that they neglect their work and become lazy or dishonest.

My parents used to have a maid who was very good at her work. She was clever, efficient and kept the house clean, cooked and even baked well. She was also quite a nice pleasant person. But she was on the phone all the time! I was in JC at that time, and whenever I was home, I was like her receptionist. Always picking up her phone calls!! but lucky she still managed to do her work quite well, so we close one eye.

It is sometimes pretty scary knowing that a complete stranger is staying with you.

I still remember vividly a murder case that actually happened in my neighbourhood a couple of years back.

Me, dd & mum-in-law were walking past that block that particular day when we suddenly noticed lots & lots of policemen. Then, to my horror, I saw a black police van with the name forsenic printed on it. Immediately, I knew something has happened. Lo & behold, news team came & reported that a maid had murdered her employer brutally.

That puts me off maids 4ever.

We really don't know what is in the minds of maids when they arrive. Are they mentally alright ? When I think of my prev maid looking like a zombie, it scares me like crazy...so when she got on my nerve, I got her to talk to the maid agency boss...at the end of 2 hours, she didn't look better...I quickly sent her back. That put me off maids.
