I also want to transfer my child to another school, the distance from my house to both school is the same.
My reason to tranfer is similar to wencsh88, any parents who have sussessfully transferred their children to a school near to the old one give us some advice? -
For transfer due to DISTANCE (you shifted and current school is seriously too far/inconvenient), you can try 2 methods:
1. Approach the school of choice directly. If there’s vacancies, they’ll proceed with the transfer at year end. Some schools require your child to take a test (they claim it’s for placement of class). If there’s no vacancy, they’ll advise you to find another school.
2. Go through MOE. Usually, this means no choosing of school. They will place your child in the nearest school with vacancies. In this case, school cannot reject as placement is done by MOE.
I have students who went through both routes to transfer schools.
Route 2 is fast and simple, if you don’t mind whatever school your child may get.
Route 1 may be tedious as more popular schools will demand interviews, entrance tests, etc. -

A good principal may not guarantee good teachers. If your son's teachers are caring and committed, then I would suggest you let your kids stay put. My son's teachers are rather caring and compassionate...principal wise, she is very task-driven and not very warm. But the teachers are the ones teaching the kids, not the principal.hi,
I have no such experience of transferring my kid to another school. If the reason for you to transfer your kid out is due the not satisfy with how the new principal run the school, I would think maybe you should ask your kid whether he like his current school and teachers or not. For me, having good teachers are more important then having gd principal. By transferring your kid to another better school, it will not guarantee you better teachers...so above is just my kpo advise

Welcome to Singapore!
In your case, you should just contact the schools directly to ask if they have vacancies for your child. There is no need for you to wait for the annual registration exercise as that is intended for children entering in Primary 1.
Alternatively, you can also contact the Ministry of Education and request for their assistance in placing your child in a primary school. You won't be able to indicate a preference and your child will simply be placed in the school nearest to your home that has vacancies.
Hope it works out well for you and your family! -

You can read up this page: http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/international-students/dp-ieo/
This is MOE's guide for incoming international students.

Is it true that schools admit transfer based on queue?? First come first serve??schellen:

personally, i think most schools admit transfer cases based on queue number system rather than merit, especially if it is a transfer into neighbourhood schools. with valid reasons, you should just go ahead and approach the school to fill in the form for transfer.

How do you know whether they're basing on results or niche skills or queue?
If based on niche skills and was shortlisted for audition, does it mean chances higher?
While waiting for the school reply, is it advisable to apply for another school at the same time? Or is better to wait ...
Anyone been through this? Can share?
Thanks.
