      hi,

I have no such experience of transferring my kid to another school. If the reason for you to transfer your kid out is due the not satisfy with how the new principal run the school, I would think maybe you should ask your kid whether he like his current school and teachers or not. For me, having good teachers are more important then having gd principal. By transferring your kid to another better school, it will not guarantee you better teachers...so above is just my kpo advise 😉
A good principal may not guarantee good teachers. If your son's teachers are caring and committed, then I would suggest you let your kids stay put. My son's teachers are rather caring and compassionate...principal wise, she is very task-driven and not very warm. But the teachers are the ones teaching the kids, not the principal.

          Hi Munnoos,

          Welcome to Singapore!

In your case, you should just contact the schools directly to ask if they have vacancies for your child. There is no need for you to wait for the annual registration exercise as that is intended for children entering in Primary 1.

Alternatively, you can also contact the Ministry of Education and request for their assistance in placing your child in a primary school. You won't be able to indicate a preference and your child will simply be placed in the school nearest to your home that has vacancies.

Hope it works out well for you and your family!

            Hi munnoos,

You can read up this page: http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/international-students/dp-ieo/

This is MOE's guide for incoming international students.

Hi! Please check this existing thread: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1107 😄

              mods, please merge.
personally, i think most schools admit transfer cases based on queue number system rather than merit, especially if it is a transfer into neighbourhood schools. with valid reasons, you should just go ahead and approach the school to fill in the form for transfer.
              jmho.

Is it true that schools admit transfer based on queue?? First come first serve??

How do you know whether they're basing on results or niche skills or queue?

If based on niche skills and was shortlisted for audition, does it mean chances higher?

While waiting for the school reply, is it advisable to apply for another school at the same time? Or is better to wait ...
Anyone been through this? Can share?

                  Thanks.

lolz. write to or call the sch lor. i heard of friends who got transfered based on good results. for my case, i think ds1's P1 result is not bad but was told that he will join the waitlist like the rest.
you can apply for as many sch as you like, cos sometimes it takes a long time to wait for your turn if the sch is very popular.
my ds1 has classmate got transferred to his sch at beginning of P2, and by mid P2, was transferred out again.

it also depends on needs, or perceived genuine needs / more desperate needs ....

Thank you for your valuable information

I had contact with MOE and Shuqun primary school.

Reply from MOE says that we get a seat only on vacancy available in the said school.
And the admin of Shuqun says they will inform if a vacancy arrives if we place my kid in waiting list.
I doubt that what if there is no vacancy? near by schools are Rulang and then Corporation PS. In my kid’s case, her mother tongue is Hindi and Shuqun have Hindi center.that’s why we prefer this school. can the MOE help us to attain a seat in this school? I am really very tensed and confused reading all those stuff from MOE and other schools. HELP ME SOMEONE…
