      Hi All

dd's reading test score is 3.5. can anybody make some recommendation the books suitable at this level? she is reading geronimo stilton's books.

      Thanks.
Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton series like Secret Seven, Famous Five, Naughtiest Girl series are all quite interesting.

If those are too easy, try the original Nancy Drew series, Malory Towers, Jane Blonde

Mine also loves Geronimo Stilton, but now she is hooked unto Charlie Bone series, which you can borrow from library. I am not sure what level is Charlie Bone books tho. I rem PH has a reading list that has respectively reading level (according to scores) next to the titles. You have it? I can dig it out if you like. 🙂

Basically, she chooses a wide varieties of books, ranges from Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson, Jacqueline Woodson, Jenny Nimmon, Gwyneth Rees etc. These books are readily available in public libraries. She is also reading widely on non fiction. 😉

Don't ask me abt Chinese books. She is in deep trouble for that!

php, which level is your dd in? P3 too? Does her class has a class library? Mine also like Chronicles of Narnia, Series of Unfortunate Events (her 'live' input, sitting besides me). 😉

              This is the reading list.

php, you can also introduce your dd classics such as the Usbourne series like Jane Eyre and the Penguin classics such as What Katy Did. The Humphrey Hamster series is very interesting read too. My dd’s favourites are The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall and Mary Poppins series by P.L. Travers. Last year, her reading score was 5.1, this year 6.0. However, I want to emphasise, the score is just a guide, not very accurate.

Some of the tops in class scored 4. something, one boy scored more than 8 but he is nowhere near the tops. Read widely, that’s the key. My dd reads storybooks more than two inches thick and couldn’t put them down…she trades sleep with reading…

IJJ, I pm you re GB. Thanks.
