php, which level is your dd in? P3 too? Does her class has a class library? Mine also like Chronicles of Narnia, Series of Unfortunate Events (her 'live' input, sitting besides me). 😉

      This is the reading list.

php, you can also introduce your dd classics such as the Usbourne series like Jane Eyre and the Penguin classics such as What Katy Did. The Humphrey Hamster series is very interesting read too. My dd’s favourites are The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall and Mary Poppins series by P.L. Travers. Last year, her reading score was 5.1, this year 6.0. However, I want to emphasise, the score is just a guide, not very accurate.

Some of the tops in class scored 4. something, one boy scored more than 8 but he is nowhere near the tops. Read widely, that’s the key. My dd reads storybooks more than two inches thick and couldn’t put them down…she trades sleep with reading…

IJJ, I pm you re GB. Thanks.

Occasionally, she also read A-Z mystery as well as Magic tree house. Now lesser. 😉

I did not get it, if there is. Will be glad if someone share it here.

PH should also have a list for CL books.

Anyone has any CL books for P3 to recommend?

                        Trapwithin,

The Usbourne classics are written in simplified English for children, but the story plots are still very close to the originial Old English versions. After reading Jane Eyre, my dd loves it so much, she re-read it again. What Katy Did and The Penderwicks are sweet stories suitable for girls. Another one I forgot to mention is Chinese Cinderella. My dd reads many such stories with coming-of-age young girls in which she could connect to and learn from. It gives her a great sense of satisfaction at the end of each story.

Like what IJJ had suggested, Roald Dahl's stories are good and full of imagination.

My dd used to read Gero. S but soon, they couldn't satisfy her craving for a stronger plot. She is not so much into fantasy too. I have been trying to \"tempt\" her into reading The Chronicles of Narnia.
