My first washing machine was a front loading Bosch…what I liked was the hot water wash for the first wash, but pray hard it doesn’t spoil bcos parts and labour is very expensive.


I have a Bosch dryer too…hardly used except year end rainy season…when I pressed the ‘On’ button, the spring broke. Can’t remember how much labour cost was, but it was expensive and the technician who arrived (only after many calls :x ) was very rude.

Mine was not Bosch, but another European front loading washer cum dryer which cost close to a thousand dollars 7 years ago. It did not tear my clothes but it lasted only 3 years before it conked out. Calling the technician down cost $50 just to check. Then he said the parts will cost $300- 500. That was the 1st and last front loading washer that I will ever get.

My 1st Japanese brand top loading washer was handed to me from my mom. After 10 years, it was still working but i shifted house so i gave it away. Now i am using a Japanese brand top loading washer and it has been serving me very well for the past 3 years!

Hi, I got Bosch almost one year and luckily not face that problems…Sometimes that’s no luck as we know best home applicant come from Europe.

We have been using Bosch front-loading washer and a separate dryer for more than 5 years now. No problems.

Why not try the Thomson brand. It is a French brand. It washes gently like a front load machine but it is top load. I think the prices are similar to Bosch. My first Thomson machine lasted 14 years before it conked out. I’m now on my second Thomson machine for 2 years already.

We used Thomson-Brandt for a good 10 years before changing to Bosch.
What I didn't like about the TB dryer is the lint coil whereby all the hot air and lint fly about in the laundry area.
Bosch dryer is the condenser type.
Lint is contained in a separate drawer and water is contained in a separate water container.
Much easier to clean and no flying fluff.
Also, the TB washer and dryer are drum types, abit too small for my liking.
Bosch washer and dryer are front loading, much wider and friendlier.

Bosch technician came today & commented that my DS’ cotton pinafore (which is the similar to those used in most schools) is of "delicate" material & should be set to Easy Care 40 (meant for delicate), rather than Cotton 40 (which was advised by the demo guy).

I disagree with him as I do not have this problem even when it’s washed by top-load washers which was of harsher handling. He also said this was torn by an open-zipper which again there wasn’t any.

"Easy Care 40" can only afford half load & each load runs 2.5hr, which means I have to set aside at least 5 hrs each day!

Perhaps someone can advise which setting is best since we have 6-person load run and I was told Cotton 40 is most suitable as it allows full load. Our clothes are mostly of cotton and any flimsy delicate ones are hand-washed.
