hi san76, agree with you about the many types of parents.

That day, I asked my girl, who is having some difficulties in Science, I found a tuituion center recommended by a mum from this forum and if she would like to attend this Science tuition. She answered me, \"Why ? I can ask my teacher and once they explain, I can understand. Why must I attend tuition ?\" This was what i have been telling her since she was P5 and now, she is telling me that ....... I felt a bit  after hearing her saying that. Then I started to do some reflections and thinking. The conclusion is I have been reading too much from this forum and beginning to turn kiasu. hahahaha !!! 😄

Ha ha diasyt, can't agree more. I have been quite a relaxed mum in the past years and after coming into this forum, I start to feel more tense. Also, always check the 'milestones' of other kids who attend enrichment classes so as not to lag behind. I do not send my P1 & P2 kids to any tuition/enrichments, just swimming and piano lessons and any non-school subjects related sorts of activities during school holidays. My sis-in-law's eldest daughter without any tuition from P1 - P6 and can still get into the top girls' sec school last year. So, it's not impossible without tuitions. Having said that, it's kind of stressful to be on my toes to watch my kids' progress, so that when external help is needed, I will still consider sending my kids for enrichment classes. My sis-in-law's daughter also commented that some of her classmates have tuition classes everyday!!!

Hi picolo, good to hear about your sis-in-law's eldest daughter case. Agree that its not impossible without tuitions, just that extra effort from the child is really required.

I think it depends on the kid as well. Some kids are very proactive and intelligent by nature (or nurture?). I know of some kids who will automatically revise their work after school, do assessment papers etc... and do quite well in school. They are also some kids who needs some pushing and nagging before they will study and do well. And at the extreme end are those who will not excel even with tuition...

hi, are all sap schools geared with a higher chinese component? is that the reason that set them apart from other schools?

                  Hi,

Sap sch are different from the government sch / independent sch. Read up more from the website for better understanding.

As for CL, yes they are taking higher chinese and normal chinese. Both. No different.

Most school now provide higher chinese. Some parents feel so proud that their kids are taking Higher chinese!!!!!!! Cant understand why?????

For me, my son is taking higher chinese, there is nothing to be proud of or even though he is in SAP sch. Most important is the kid can survive in the sch and doing well in all his studies. Going to what sch is not the main thing.

There are too many different types of parents, while waiting for their kids, for sure can always hear, mothers gossiping and never ending gossiping. I never wanted to engage in their gossips, when I drive there, they would say, you are here to pick your son, I simply answered yes. I think I am the ice mother there. Cant open my mouth to talk. If 1 day, I open my mouth, I will tell them off to shut up and not comparing and gossip others kids, as if their kids are doing very well.

Relax all mothers and fathers, so long our kids enjoy their school days and did well, we should be happy. Not comparing which sch. I am very contented with my son, though I will always push but I wil always tell him \"WELL DONE, BABY\" . Then we will go for our celebration during the weekend. No toys, books or mag as presents. Sometimes nothing. Just a nice dinner.

                    San76 :celebrate:

Probably in SAP as both languages are treated as \"1st language\", it is more than just doing higher chinese as a subject?

Frankly I am not sure about other schools but typically in the school that my kids attend, I observe besides san zi jing, they also do alot of tang shi so my P2 and P1 kids would come back reciting the tang shi they learnt in school. There are also chinese performances by \"da ai mama\" (not sure if correct). Understand from the kids there are such performance in school on a regular basis and they enjoy it.

So was wondering if the chinese focus activities they do in a SAP is different. So it is not just about learning higher chinese as a subject.
