Most schools will offer Humanity route from SEC3 for students deciding to not pursue 'Engineering' at university level. One maths & combined science for SC4 & Sec 4 with rest of subject like History, Geography.... -
My girl’s sch, all express students must take A & E maths.
I am not sure of the Science combination when come Sec 3. I heard that Sec 1 & Sec 2 does not have physics (at least for this whole yr, no physics).
For Geo/Hist/Lit, choose 1.
Between D&T and Art, choose 1. Strange, got D&T no Home Econs from Sec 3 onwards. Last time my time had Home Econs till Sec 4. Or is it no one in the sch in that cohort choose Home Econs. -

Hi DadOfGirl,
And for those wanting to pursue engineering? what subjects do they need? sorry, am ignorant of all this. is it necesary for my son to take Bio? he has no clue yet of what he wants so which subjects would be better to take? I know he will have to take 1 Humanities.[/quote] -

NUS & NTU would require Physics & Chem as science subjects as a qualifying subject for application to Engineering. If you don't have biology & wants to do engineering in Bio-Tech( molecular engineering) you are still allowed to apply ( Take a bridging course in biology -Sem1 of engineering ) & you could get in if your A level score is great.
For Medicine , Biology is must , same for Pharmacy. In short two science subject must , if you want to pursue engineering/ medicine in local uni.
I am not sure , but A/E both maths is also a requireemnt... one maths will not qualify for application to engineering- Can someone confirm this?
If you are not sure what is your interest , safe options is two maths , two science. Then you can decide at JC level. -
A friend’s daughter who is in the express stream failed her science. I am concerned but dare not probe, can someone pls enlighten me what is likely to happen to her daughter. Thanks.
