Initially while we were contemplating on shifting to Simei, basing on the distance and the choice of schools, we narrowed our selection to

      - chongzheng
      - yumin
      - changkat
      - tampines primary

      I will go for
      1. Chongzheng
      2. Changkat
If you live in simei, there is balloting for Phase 2C within 1km of Chongzheng. If touch wood, that fail, I will go for Changkat, as the location is nearer (based on my initial intended residence).

FYI, based on the school’s website, for 2006 PSLE results (i didn’t compare for results in 2007 as i have aborted shifting to the east)
      - Changkat 100% passes 69.7% Express
      - Chongzheng 100% passes 65.4% Express
      - Yumin 100% passes 60% Express
The rest of the school’s results are not listed.

Besides that, I also look at the CCAs the school offered before deciding on my choice.

However, generally in the east, like wat ChiefKS had mentioned, Poi Ching, St Hilda and Gongshan are also the popular ones. It is better to first identify your distance to the school and then look at the registration statistics to see if you have any chance under Phase 2C (or Phase 2B if you intend to do PV) then you can narrow down your choice of schools.

      JMHO.

        Hi

I’ll go for Chongzheng or Tampines. My husband attended the roadshow conducted by the TPS VP. According to VP, 60++ percent made it for the Express stream. Curriculum is not bad. My neighbour’ children’ are currently attending the school. The girls told me that from pr3 onwards, students are required to attend extra classes in the afternoon. Was also informed by these girls’ that streaming starts at P1-and the best classes are ‘Care’ and ‘Love’. School’s premises are currently undergoing renovation. They are building an amphitheatre. The new facilities sounded quite impressive. Like other schools, they also offered overseas attachment programme for the upper primary students. I was more concerned about the discipline standard and my husband mentioned that the VP assured ‘Discipline problems is not an issue’. Hence, overall, it sounded quite good.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the foresight to buy an apartment closer to St Hilda’s, Poi Chin or Gongshan. I am just slightly over the 2km mark for St Hilda’s. If you really want to know how unfortunate it is, I’m within 2 km of Tampines Primary School which is sitting opposite of St Hilda’s…that’s destiny right!

Nevertheless, it appears like Chongzheng, Tampines Primary, Changkat and St Anthony’s C are getting some votes of confidence so I shall narrow the list down to those few unless there are other good advice to come.

To attend Chongzheng, does it matter if my family are not buddhist?

            Hi all,

Manage to find this forum as my gal is due for reg.
            Staying in PSR area.

i'm graduate from Geylang Methodist Sec, thus i shld be able to reg at GMPS.

have come out a few sch after discuss with wife. Wonder which shld i go for?

            1) PasirRis Primary (abt 3 km)
            2) GMPS
            3) GongShang (abt 3km)
            4) Meridian Primary (Less than 1 km)
            5) Park View Primary (Less than 1 km)
            6) Red Swastika
            7) MayFlower (wife is ex-student)

Was thinking of reg at PSR as it's nearer to home but probably hv to go thru ballot.
            GMPS seem safer.

Would like to hear views & opinions from anyone.

Hope to enjoy the process rather than treating this as a headache

In that case target the following since you did not perform any PV,

Meridian Primary (Less than 1 km)
Park View Primary (Less than 1 km)

You may need to check whether are you ok to register at GMPS as you are from GMSS.

                Hi

I can only comment about the schools in Pasir Ris since I stay there too. In my opinion, you can give up Pasir Ris Primary as that school requires balloting in phase 2C for less than 1 km in both 2006 and 2007. Both Pasir Ris Primary and White Sands Primary are the much sort after schools in Pasir Ris.

As for Red Swastika and GongShang, both will be out too as they also require balloting for less than 1 km in Phase 2C and both these schools have very high numbers of parent volunteers.

Did you consider Elias Park Primary? If you are within 1 km of both Meridian and Park View, most likely you should be within 1 km of Elias Park also.

Yep, agree about Elias Park Primary. My son's kindergarten principle actually mentioned that Elias Park and White Sands are quite good schools around pasir ris.

Called up MOE & GMPS to find out.

Must say nowadays the response very fast.

                      Eg.
I graduate from GMSS but not entitle to reg under other phrase except 2C cos it’s not a "Full" school.

Meaning as long as the primary & secondary has the same principle, then it’s consider a Full school.

                        Hi Chief,

You mentioned Red Swastika as a pretty good school. It is betty than Zhongshan or Chongzheng?

Btw, anyone has comments about Tampines Primary School? I know this school has a lot of interesting initiatives but not so sure about how good the school is.
