RE: Travel: Korea - General
Hi,
Last minute decide to go to Korea in December. Checked with ASA, Hong Thai and CTC. Limited seats available now. As we have 9 of us travelling, make it more difficult.
In fact, ASA Seoul + Jeju already full. So left with only 6 days Seoul.
Am considering DIY, anyone can recommend more local tour guide? I am afraid they are fully booked already now, so will appreciate if I have more to contact. -
RE: KTKLN for indo maid?
micollh:
called agency, they said they din do for my maid.. said if want to do can, charges $200. i asked if now she did not have, then when her WP expire next year, she will go back for good, then still need to do ? she said no need. unless she wants to come back here again, then need to do..so i guess unless she wants to come back again next year else i no need bother this ?
Micollh,
I just come back embassy. I have also asked the embassy. I told them my maid KTKLN expired this December, but she is only going back for home leave next December. The young girl in embassy told me that my maid can just do it next year when she go for home leave. It is okay although expired.
At first, I thought going Batam to do this year, but since the embassy say no need, so I will just leave it for next year lah. Maybe by the time, she decided not to come back -

imagine people like airline pilots and flight attendants have to fly in fly out daily, so it must be okay, as long as don't go visit the exploded nuclear power plant or don't go within 50km radius .... okay be kiasu, 100km radius of the site ....
Hi Verykiasu2010,
I guess I am being very 'kiasi'
Actually I am worried for the kids only. Otherwise, myself don't really care -
RE: Travel: Japan - General
Hi All,
Am interested to know what parents think about travelling to Japan, whether it is safe to travel now. Anyone concern on the radiation?
Am thinking to bring kids (9 & 7 yrs old) to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hokkaido during Nov - Dec 2011 school holiday.
Some friends told me it’s okay, some have concern. So what do you think? -
RE: KTKLN for indo maid?
micollh:
thanks chan, she does not even have IC.. only the work permit with her photo, we did a passport renewal recently, no one mention abt this KTKLN card at the embassy.. am lost now.. think her agency din do that for her.
Hi Micollh,
Your maid came in 2009. Why you need to renew her passport so soon, since the passport valid for 3 years? I am going embassy tomorrow to renew her passport as her passport will expire this December. I will ask the embassy about this KTKLN. Any question you want me to ask for you, since it's quite difficult to call them? -
RE: KTKLN for indo maid?
micollh:
i need to ask, how do i know if my maid has this KTKLN card? she has not gone home since she came in 2009..
Hi, My maid came in December 2008 through agency. Since your maid came in 2009, I think she has this card (unless the agency never did that for her). I actually asked her when I know about this card. At first she did not know what I was talking about. I told her to show me any card that has her photo on it. She show me 2 cards (her Indonesia ID card and this KTKLN). She said the KTKLN actually given by Indonesia agent, and the agent particularly told her to take care of the card and do not lose it.
The card expire in 3 years time.
Hope this help -
RE: KTKLN for indo maid?
My maid actually have KTKLN but is going to expire 16th December this year. If we need to renew the card, do we have to go through the same procedure as applying a new one ?
I intend to go to Batam with my maid. Are they open on saturday? Cause do not want to take a workday leave lah.
As my maid will only go for homeleave next year December 2012, can I ask her to extend next year instead (although the card will expire for a year already by then)? -

Hi Uncle Lim,
Hi Karin,annkarin72:
Hi Uncle Lim
Thanks for your above post.
Can I check with you the following:-
1) Can I check when collecting the passport, does the helper need to be present or the employer can collect on behalf of the helper?
2) What are the questions asked during the interview?
3) And lastly how long needed on the day when apply the passport?
I appreciate your reply.
Thanks & Best Regards
Karin
The passport can be collected by either the helper or the employer. I drove my helper to the embassy but waited outside in my car. The collection process is a lot faster, all in all about 15 minutes.
At the interview, they will ask you about the helper's salary and off days. This information will be put into a document for you and your helper to sign, to agree that you abide by certain rules such as not abusing her and providing her with decent meals etc. Some questions were asked in bahasa so I did not understand.
I took about 2 hours but it was because we forgot to get the queue number first before standing in line to submit the form and documents. So make sure you get your queue number at the machine next to counter 2 before you do other things.
Hope this helps!
I am going to renew my indo maid passport in October
May I ask you some questions:
- Do you give day off to your maid? During the interview, did the immigration officer said that it is compulsory to give the maid day off?
- How about the minimum or standard salary? Currenly I give her $360 + $20 (no day off). Am thinking to increase her pay. But during the interview, do they mention the market rate now? May I know how much is your maid salary now?
Appreciate your help
Thanks
