mkmi01 - thank u for the info on going to Batam to hv the card made. We decided to not take the risk of having the maid go bk during her hm leave to make it, one reason, its close to Hari Raya n mayb the surabaya office staff will be overloaded or not too keen to work, also, the place is 5-7 hrs for the maid to travel from her hmtwn n it may end up an excuse to delay coming bk.

We headed to Batam today to hv the card done, pretty convenient, other than the tiring ferry trip. Here's what we did
- paid S$40/pax for a rtn trip tix to Batam centre. Weekday. U need to top up another S$7 dollar when collecting yr rtn boarding pass at the batam ferry terminal, so tax thingy.
- taxi cost from ferry terminal to the P4TKI Batam, abt $40000. The taxi counter is just at the exit door of the terminal.
- make sure u hv 2 copies of passport mainpage (photo/data), last page with yr home add (sticker pasted by embassy when u apply for home leave so no need to pay fiscal tax when they rtn from indo to sg), work permit, letter of agreement which u shoud hv a copy when u renewed her passport at embassy, this is a LOA signed by both u n maid, in the presence of the embassy official.
- u give a copy of those photocopies to the office staff n they will give yr maid a 2 page form to fill, basically, their info n yours. they need a stamp fee of $6000 for this form n the staff will collect $10000 from u, with no change expected bk. (be prepared for slow motion service)
- a insurance guy will come to collect $290,000 from u, try to give exact. Your second set of photocopies are to be given to this insurance guy to go prepare the insurance card n confirmation letter. They will take away with your money while u wait for the office staff to call the maid into the room to make the card.
- card is done. The staff asked u to go make a photocopy of the card for them. The copier shop is about 100m across the busy crossroad. There is no copying service in house!!! S,. Make sure u hv all your copying of the other docs done beforehand. this copying of the ktkln card seemed to be unavoidable, unless u hv a portable copier with u! Hahahah
- when we told the maid to ask the office staff for her insurance confirmation, she went in and came out $15000 poorer as the staff asked her for the money in exchange of the letter! This one is not in the record. Prob split between the 3 of them. $10000 from my change for the insurance, another $5000 from my maid's own pocket. Not alot of money, but .....
- return cab trip bk to ferry terminal is abt $50000, with the help of the security guard who called the cab for us.

Whole process of applying the card took abt 2 hrs, we went in close to lunch time n prayer time, so maybe abit slow.

This this might be a better option than having the maid going bk to their country to apply cos it may be a very pack time this period n the limited offices may be very out of their way.

- Did you have to submit the application online first and opted for the pickup point to be at Batam before going to Batam for collection? (like in applying for Singapore passport online)?

- What is the operating hours for the KTKLN office at batam?

- What was the ferry timing you took to get there and back?

My maid actually have KTKLN but is going to expire 16th December this year. If we need to renew the card, do we have to go through the same procedure as applying a new one ?


I intend to go to Batam with my maid. Are they open on saturday? Cause do not want to take a workday leave lah.

As my maid will only go for homeleave next year December 2012, can I ask her to extend next year instead (although the card will expire for a year already by then)?

Hi, My maid came in December 2008 through agency. Since your maid came in 2009, I think she has this card (unless the agency never did that for her). I actually asked her when I know about this card. At first she did not know what I was talking about. I told her to show me any card that has her photo on it. She show me 2 cards (her Indonesia ID card and this KTKLN). She said the KTKLN actually given by Indonesia agent, and the agent particularly told her to take care of the card and do not lose it.

The card expire in 3 years time.

thanks chan, she does not even have IC… only the work permit with her photo, we did a passport renewal recently, no one mention abt this KTKLN card at the embassy… am lost now… think her agency din do that for her.

Your maid came in 2009. Why you need to renew her passport so soon, since the passport valid for 3 years? I am going embassy tomorrow to renew her passport as her passport will expire this December. I will ask the embassy about this KTKLN. Any question you want me to ask for you, since it's quite difficult to call them?

chan, he passport expired next year Feb, but since i need to extend her work permit for 1 more year, her passport validity has to be longer than that, else the work permit validity will follow passport expiry. so i extende her passport for the next 5 years. i will call my maid agency to ask abt the KTKLN later will update herr if i have any question ya, Thanks so much for being helpful

called agency, they said they din do for my maid… said if want to do can, charges $200. i asked if now she did not have, then when her WP expire next year, she will go back for good, then still need to do ? she said no need. unless she wants to come back here again, then need to do…so i guess unless she wants to come back again next year else i no need bother this ?

I just come back embassy. I have also asked the embassy. I told them my maid KTKLN expired this December, but she is only going back for home leave next December. The young girl in embassy told me that my maid can just do it next year when she go for home leave. It is okay although expired.
At first, I thought going Batam to do this year, but since the embassy say no need, so I will just leave it for next year lah. Maybe by the time, she decided not to come back
