Hi, my child will be going to P1 in PC next year. I have noticed this thread is not really active, are there any other parents whose kids are joining PC next year? Will be great to know all of you better!
Can I ask if we are supposed to receive the booklist prior to orientation day? I am looking forward to visiting the school with my child on 19 Nov!

yes, you will. Via mail.

My kid is going PC next yr too... but my orientation is on the 15th cos we are out of town on 19th:) Been waiting for the booklist and uniform purchase date too...... heard tat there will be an oral test on the orientation day for our kids:S -
Yes. Both English and Chinese were tested last yr. Based on yr child’s scores, the school will assign him to the appropriate class. DS was given a list of words to read as well as a picture which he had to describe it. HTH.

wi11anna,
Thanks for the info! Hope to receive the booklist soon, have not seen anything in mailbox as yet.
Your son is in P2 this year?
Is the oral only for Chinese or English or both? Do you think the words were difficult to read?
cpdalin,
Hi! Nice to meet a fellow parent whose kid is going P1 next year too! Is your child currently taking any Chinese enrichment class? DS is with Beijing Language School, am hoping his standard can meet PC's expectation. -

Hi Dark Chocolate,
My gal is not attending any enrichment yet, will see if she can cope first. Really hope she can cope:) -
cpdalin:
If I remembered correctly, P1 booklist and some information(like which house your kid is assigned to) will be mailed to you. You are expected to bring your child to school on orientation day. Your child will then be bought to classroom for English and Chinese assessment. Based on the result, your child will be assigned their class. Parent will stay in the hall and listen to the orientation by principle and parent volunteers.

You should be able to purchase school uniform and books/stationery during the orientation. However some of the items may be out of stock and you may need to come back again. Can't remember if they only accept cash, but think cash payment is preferred.
Sales of school uniform schedule is available at:

Thanks alphonsus,
I am checking the mail box daily:))
Hope my kid will enjoy her pri sch days:P -
Dun worry, I believe you will and so will be your child. My gal is enjoying every moment of her days in PCS and finally this year, I did not need to hear her endless complaints of the rowdy school children (ex-school) in her school bus.
Honestly, I am pleased with how the school is run and the general behaviour of the children is simply good.
In fact, since her successful school transfer to PCS, I have received further calls from 2 other top schools to accept her, but I choose to let her stay put. :celebrate:
