I just feel the need to vent here as maybe I've been seeing it from a narrow perspective.

My P2 girls got most of her results and it was a disaster.... From the band 1 result for chinese and english she had in P1, her scores dropped to 70+..... P2 is not supposed to be too difficult. She is supposed to be in one of the top chinese class and has been doing well for chinese but it really shocked us to see her SA1 result.

I felt so disappointed and upset. Reason being that we make the effort to spend time every evening revising, etc... this is what we never do last year. Also, the resources and time we put in to send her for BC and Molin,etc... I was really disappointed that I didn't want to talk to her last nite as probably I will only get angry and end up chiding her.

I managed to speak to her english teacher yesterday and she mentioned the key issue was carelessness that made her lose alot of marks. We had taught her about exam strategies, to check,etc... :stupid:

I am at this stage of trying to overcome my emotions. I felt lost and at the same time know there are alot of things that we need to do to buck her up. Also, recalled the recent article by Lee Weiling in ST on the 1st time she failed her exam. Learning is a life long journey and we are just at the beginning of it. This experience somehow provided a good learning experience for us and her. For my girl, not to be complacent. For us would be, there are still alot to be done and this also help to equip us with better knowledge on how to equip our P1 next year so that he continues to show consistency in his performance.

                      Hi all

I have come to term that carelessness is part of growing up…they learn thr mistakes…

As long as the mistakes is not a fatal one, and so long they have learnt from it,never repeat, and that is most impt

                        Hi MMM

I can imagine your frustration. Wonder if I would be feeling like you when I get back the entire results. Now it’s just a random spotting of mistakes, yet to know the full outcome. Would share more when the verdict is out!

My niece has all along scored 90+ for her chinese in P1 and P2. However it dropped to 70+ in P3. My sister attributed it to creative writing and mastering of vocab… Cos in P1 and P2, the children would be well trained in word recognition. But they may lack the skills to fully understand the meaning in order to apply them in essays. Not sure if this is the expected pitfall that we have to take note.

Appears our sons are both in P1 and in Molin this year. I only started him 1.5mths ago. Sent him there cos I have heard alot of good feedback about it. However I was speaking to another parent who’s daughter (p6) and son (sec2) are with Molin too and she told me her children’s chinese results are not as ideal as before. She felt that their standard has declined. Wonder if it’s so or that Molin’s not as good for upper primary or secondary levels? Or has its standard indeed dropped?

Does anyone have any recent feedback?
