Berries - Discussion

Hi Tamarind,
Thanks for your feedback, I agree that forcing the kids to learn will kill their interest, my dd is already in P4. I think Berries might not work for her. She used to have a personal tutor but she is going back to China so am now in a fix. -
Hi tamarind
I brought my gal for the trial class. I also requested to be in the class. Generally, I like the material and the teaching method. The teacher is also able to catch the children attention. They teach the children how part of the chinese character come about. My gal also like the class. But the class is too noisy. The children are always shouting instead of reading out loud. Even saw some few boys using their might to shout out the answer…haha maybe good to train them to speak up. But the shouting also make the shy children evenore quiet.
Now I’m still considering whether or not to sign her up. -

How old is your child, my child started with Berries when she was 5 and I see a lot of improvement. Younger one started at 8 and I think improvement is less. I think need to start earlier to really see results. Overall Berries is very good for younger kids. -
Hi there,
Now berries has merged the paper two with paper one, a three hour lesson next year for all pri five and six,
We are withdrawing cos its too long and draining. Many are quitting too.

As such, are you finding another center or change to 1 - 1 coaching? -
Hi All,
Same as everyone I also considering whether to let my DD continue with Berries in the K1 class. Sad thing to say that they now do not offer any makeup class if the lesson falls on a public holiday. In the past, they use to have makeup.
Now considering to switch it to a weekday in order to avoid missing the 2 holiday in 2011 or maybe other chinese enrichment centre -

yes. quite disappointed with their decision to do so. i see it more for their commercial benefit rather than the students welfare (as they claim).
Lauren,
i am also looking at their WOL, but don't have suitable time slot. all classes on weekday 2.15pm (for the branch i am looking at). my boy usually dismiss at 1.50pm. no time to eat lunch. -

My niece and nephew have been attending Berries for many years since preschool/kindie time. Because of the merged of the two paper, my niece will have to go through a 3 hour lesson next year which her mom thinks it's a bad idea. As such, both my niece and nephew will be changing to another chinese enrichment school next year so that she can send both kids to the same school at the same time.Hi there,

As for my boy, although he is not P5 yet, he is still affected by the 3 hour lessons because the school is now changing all the class schedules to accomodate the 3 hours lessons and more classes. My boy has been attending a specific day and timeslot more than 3 years, with the change of schedule, our PACKED weekly ritual schedule are being thrown out of the window. Relunctantly, I am also considering/looking around for other school/option now.
