Which Country Suitable For Young Children?

Wow the enclosure sounds great! So you can actually touch the fish and swim with them?Cairns
I took my dd to Great Barrier Reef when she was 5. She enjoyed it very much. For younger kids, there is an \"enclosure\" in the sea, right next to the pontoon, where the kid can stand in. This \"enclosure allows the smaller fishes to swim in n out. My dd enjoy seeing the fishes coming up close. The operator that we went with offers the \"sea walker\" adventure. Interesting especially for those who can't swim/snorkel and yet wanna hv a taste of being underwater. Quite expensive, though.
Gold Coast
Jetstar flies from singapore to Coolongatta (gold coast) direct. If the price is much cheaper than the regular flights from Singapore to Brisbane, then flying direct to GC might be an alternative worth considering.
The GC hinterland has many mountain lodge options. Heard a lot about mount tambourine.
Gold Coast: oh I didn't know jetstar flies there direct. We took SQ flight to brisbane last year, then had to do a bus transfer for an hour. Maybe the direct flight would be better idea, thanks!
Ah yes, Mount Tamborine is the place I heard of. I think the binabura lodge is somewhere there. My friend says there is a very nice quaint stretch of shops and little restaurants at Tamborine.
She also told me about another place called Sunshine Coast. They drove there from Gold Coast, about 2.5 hours I think. She said it was one of her favourite places. Very scenic, mountains, beaches and some nice attractions, e.g. the Crocodile Hunter's zoo, some really big market (can't remember the name), and they drove to some small farms selling stuff like tomatoes and fruits, cheese factory, ginger factory, etc. I like that sort of thing actually, instead of just going to the big commercialised attractions. -

Enjoy your trip!
Hey thanks for the tips! Cairns sounds quite good! My boy likes the water but he's not a very strong swimmer. If we decide to go, I think we'll bring him for more swimming lessons, still have time! But I think he'll enjoy the glass bottom boat and wildlife safari. He loves animals and sea creatures.
Will go do more research! Thanks!

Eh, no lah, the enclosure is pretty small, not enough room to \"swim\" with the fish. The fishes do swim into the enclosure when my dd was in there, especially when the pontoon staff threw some fish feed into the enclosure area. My dd was thrilled.bebebub:

Coolongatta airport is about 30 minutes drive to Surfer's Paradise. Yes, do go to Sunshine Coast, or even Noosa Heads if u wanna stay away from the touristy crowd. It really depends on what you wanna do and how much time you have. If you have plans to visit all the worlds, u can consider staying in Surfer's Paradise for a few days before driving out towards Sunshine Coast. Check out Tangalooma Resort for an experience to feed and swim with the dolphins.
Best part of my trip was a visit to Frasers Island, world's biggest sand island. It's a long, long drive from Surfers Paradise. To visit the island, we based ourselves in Rainbow Beach for 2 nites. Besides the 1 day island visit, we explore the surrounding area, having great fun trekking ard, and \"sand boarding\" at the sand dunes :). Then we back track towards the direction of surfers paradise over a few days, as we stop and visit whatever we find interesting along the way - Ginger factory, chocolate factory, fruit farms, Australia Zoo, Mt Tambourine.. For shopping, you can stop by Maroochydore
Happy planning! -
Thanks so much bebebub! You are quite the expert! Sunshine Coast and Fraser Island sound really great. I heard about the island too. I think we’ll really enjoy that.
Discussed with hubby and we’re thinking of doing Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and if time permits, we can stay 1 or 2 nights on Fraser island. Cairns we’ll save for another time. Prefer to do a driving trip instead of taking internal flight. More relaxing. We love doing road trips and discovering all kinds of little gems along the way.
Appreciate your help! -
