Totally agreed the security guards are friendly and helpful. Sometimes they will assist the students with their bags or to scan their cards on behalf.

I had not read The Animal Farm. Watched a movie though. Is it suitable for 14 y.o?

I did animal farm in Sec 2 and Shakespeare in Sec 3/4. I enjoyed them but never imagined that my DS would still be studying the same book many years later.

During my literature years in sec sch days, we needed to do poetry, plays and shorts stories. My worst subject

My son did To Kill a Mocking Bird this year for his sec 2 Literature. It is a really wonderful book but at his age, I don't think he is able to appreciate the underlying message . What a waste! :lol:

When my boy was in P6, the sch made HOLES a compulsory reading material. To him, it was a boring book.

I may have memorised the 三字经 at 6, and still find new meanings in it now.

I enjoyed Animal Farm in Sec2, and still remember it till today. Our kids are smarter than we think they are. But in today's world, Communism is no longer a threat like it used to be. So the relevance of the book has been simmered down for that reason.

Another text I enjoyed was \"Things Fall Apart\". Some schools still use it today. That may be still relevant because it talks about changing cultures and values in society - a challenge that our children face.
