My DS is in P1, overall he should have done better for SA2 than SA1 (based on the Paper 2 papers he brought back).

This is not an ideal arrangement for upper pri levels.

Maybe can work out for P2 only since many P1 children are still in the honeymoon period and parents are unaware of the high std in PH.

It is really difficult to cater to pupils with varied capabilities. When my elder boy was in P3 in BPPS, he was not challenged in sch and had refused to work on more challenging tasks (given to him by me) simply becos the sch wont be testing those. The internal drive to excel is lacking.

I wld prefer subject banding as early as possible.

yes, it should be...but the implementation may be different among schools...if PH adopts this method of allocation, it is better rather than giving a choice for parents to opt for the programme.

i heard from my P1 dd something near to that last night but i never bother to gather more info....

All careless mistakes... sigh.., I've tried my best to coach her to be less careless, but still careless... I feel quite bad abt it but went through with her the careless mistakes and she admitted she overlooked. Can u believe it she say she has eyesight problem for some questions! dunno to laugh or to be angry. :stupid:

Most of us have kids who are careless, if you can share your how-to-be-careful strategy, we will be really elated

DS may be able to get full marks for CL P2 if he has not been careless with no of strokes and writing (he did not join the lines properly).

EL P2 pull down by comprehension and sentence making (careless - copy wrongly, which become whick etc)

Btw, can anyone give comments between Hua Cheng, Yu Ren and Han Language for CL? DS currently under Han but I find it a little too simple.

SA2 papers will be released next week…report books the week after.

In the meantime, I am going to sweat it out…hopefully to release the frustrations and tensed up muscles in the shoulder area.

We tried Hans @ BTSC since start of this year for Compo & Compreh and Term 2 for Enrichment. Found their std not on par with PH. So stopped after the terms are over.

Now with Hua Cheng (since start of term 3). Afternoon lessons. After sch dismissal, eat lunch at nearby hawker centre, then go for tuition. I see improvement in my boy's weekly spelling test. Hv not seen his SA2 paper yet, so cant tell whether the tuition helped in other sections.

A friend recommended YuRen @ Beauty World, heard got waiting list. Timing also does not suit us.

I would need to focus more on son’s CL comprehension open-ended next yr…or it will continue to pull him down with passages getting tougher every year.
