      carebear:
Presently i am using the recycled paper type with sodium bicarbonate which absorbs odour. Although it is more expensive but it is really lasting. This is the first time i am using it and it has been almost a month, and i have not changed the bedding and still no bad smell!

I noticed that my hamsters get flustered each time i clean their cages as the smell is different so they get stressed out. Now that they are so old, i am happy to have found this bedding so i do not have to disturb them too often.
      Hi carebear,
      Thanks for sharing.
Does your hamster pee in the bed linen (recycled paper type with sodium bicarbonate).
What is the name or brand of this bed linen and how much?
      TIA.

It is Living World Fresh N Comfy with sodium bicarbonate.
I bought it at Pet Lover's Centre. The large one cost about $28, can't remember the exact price.

Does your hammie sleep a lot? Mine likes to take short naps day and night. He likes digging the bed linen and moves the things around his cage. There is a wheel inside the cage but he doesnโ€™t know how to run on it except sleeping under the wheel.

              Most hammies are nocturnal.
When my hammies were young, at night, it would be like a circus.
I had 16 of them and they would be biting the cage, running on the wheel or scuffling up and down. If i have guests staying over, they usually won't be able to sleep due to the noise. I bought the active ones a silent wheel to minimize the noise.
              Starlight1968sg, is your hammie old?
My 2.5 year old hammies now sleep alot, only to wake up and eat.
I try not to disturb them since they are in their twilight years now.

Mine doesn't get to sleep much in the day with my students taking them out to play all the time!

I noticed one of mine only uses the wheel once every few days. The younger ones seem to use it daily though.

Mine is a 5 mth old male; considered an adult?
He has a sensitive nose. As dd was preparing his dried food, he was very excited and tried to climb higher to \"see\" what dd was doing. I guess he smell his food.
He has a preferred \"house\". We placed a couple of \"houses\" in his cage. He showed his preference. Nevertherless, he pooed in his preferred house too.

make sure you separate the babies if they fight.
