Just curious, how many mummies cater food for their P1-3 boys? $1.50 is quite ex considering my recess allowance was only 50cents. Even with inflation, $1 should get a decent meal. Are P1-3 students not allowed to go to the canteen even if they r mature enuf to buy on their own?

Also, my boy is a picky eater, I’m afraid he would just throw away food without my knowledge, sigh … but packing food is troublesome and I dont want ds to feel left out if most classmates get catered food. How many of u will cater?

my child not in maris but if i do get in, i thot catering would be good cos when my girl can buy food in her sch canteen, initially she bought just tidbits instead of proper food that can last her till late dismissal at 1.45pm

u also dont hv to worry abt her losing wallet, buy fried stuff, soft drinks. etc but i agree they wont hv a chance to learn how to buy food. dont know will get pampered or not. some kids i know prefer to bring food cos canteen long queue or they lazy to queue. but theres limited type of food we can bring. how to wake up 5am to eg fried rice, noodles to tabao to sch? unless eat leftovers from last nite

Hi mum2jj, their canteen food are quite expensive. Beginning of the year, I gave my elder son who is in P4 $2 a day, but end of the day, he came back with $0 bal. I was quite mad at first and accused him of spending his money buying "rubbish" until 1 day I went to his school and took a look at their pricings, indeed the food are expensive. As he is quite a big eater, $2 is just enough for him. As for my 2nd boy who will be in Pr 1 next year, I will cater food for him. Infact I find that it’s good that they have catered food in the classroom because their techer will ensure that they finish their food before they are allowed to go out and play. I suggest that you take a look at their menu, days that the food you think your son may not like, you can pack food for him to bring to school. P1 to P3 boys are not allowed to buy food in the canteen. The queue can be quite long and sometimes my elder son have to rush through his food if he has other activities to attend to during recess.

Thank u mummies, so guess better cater. BTW, do u know what class yr boys are in? The package doesnt say, but I read that some schools like Marymount Convent already ifm the parents. Reason I asked is becoz it says that parents are to bring their child to the respective classroom first thing upon arrival.

Also, since u r more experienced 2Dmommy, do u purchase the optional books? Would the school teachers ever need to use them?

The school will post the names and classes the boys will be in outside the office. If you do not know how to go to the class, there will be Prefects around to help and direct you.

As for the optional books, they are not required by the teachers, however you can choose to purchase them as supplements. I am getting only the iFlash book (for chinese language), hopefully with the sound and pictures, he finds Chinese interesting.
