Reading all the ambiguous Science questions, I pray the paper will be set at a better standard next year (or every other year?). πŸ™

Math Qn 34. answer is three angles that are smaller than a right-angle. but among these three angles, one angle only about 1 degree lesser than the right angle. how can the children differentiate this tiny difference.

Yup. This too. My lost a mark. She coloured and erased.

Mine lost a mark here too. It is 89+ degrees. How can the pupil tell it is not 90 degrees without a protractor? This is the question which the FT initially said is not fair and would check with the school. But in the end, I guess the appeal was not granted.
Since more than one parent in this thread have qualms about this question, I think you should feedback to your respective FTs. Math is all about logic and accuracy. We shouldn't create confusion in the kid.

          Jennifer:

Parents of P3, do you hv issues with Science qn 34a and Maths qn 38?

For me, I think the Sci qn 34a is a bit silly, like trying to test the counting skill :? . Hope that the Sci dept will come up with more intelligent/sensible qn.For Maths qn38, I have no issue. How about you?

My son got 34a wrong but it is because he could not see the line pointing to the ant properly.

Well, maybe they wanted to test the observation skill of the pupils for this question. science is also about observation skill.

The Maths qn 2nd sentence does not make any sense to me.

Science 34a is quite silly. I think there are definitely questions that can be of better quality than that. For Maths 38, I think it is ok. Just trying to trick the kids.

            I have issues on

Science mcq 15. Question badly set. 'Some' micro-organisms are 'very tiny'? :? If some micro-organisms are very tiny...then you have not-so-tiny micro-organisms?Science open-ended 43bi, mine put \"with no flower, pollination cannot take place, therefore, the balsam plant cannot reproduce\". It was marked wrong.
Yes, I have issue with this question too. the word \"micro\" already implies very small or tiny. So in fact all are tiny, not some. How do you define tiny in the first place? dictionary said \"very small\" or \"minute\". even a speck of dust can be called tiny. so \"A\" should not be true.

How about Scinece Qn 15:A Some (micro-organism) can be very tiny. My boy said all (micro-organism) are very tiny, so he said (A) is wrong.

Math Qn 34. answer is three angles that are smaller than a right-angle. but among these three angles, one angle only about 1 degree lesser than the right angle. how can the children differentiate this tiny difference.

I agree that Sci qn 15 is badly set. If an organism is known as micro-
organism, it cant be not tiny. Why compare \"tiny\" vs \"very tiny\"?

Maths Qn 34 is a tricky one. That's why I tell my boy must use a ruler to help guage. He got it wrong too though one glance I already can tell it is an acute angle.
My boy used ruler to measure, but still thought it is a right angle. so it is a bad question.

for Sci qn 34a, I remember last year's SA2 paper, there is one MCQ ask them to count how many mammals in the picture. the teacher's answer is 7 (5 animals and two children). I thought human is not belong to the animal kingdom, how can the humanbeing be classified under the animals.

First of all, I would like to thanks Trapwithin, Jennifer,Perwinklejoy, Markfch, Ijj and E3 for your heartfelt :congrats: . I appreciate that. Actually excited and also quite paisay to announcement it here. That why only mentioned it in the GEP thread.

😒 I can't participate in the science and math qns as my dd has taken them to school else I will definitely have alot to say. Like Jennifer has said, must not treat PH papers too serious else can really :x . I, too, am going to put my faith on the PSLE papers as the qns must clear and with a purpose else lot of parents would complain.(tons of them will appear in the forum). πŸ˜‰
I have not decided yet, anyone any suggestion which gep sch to send my dd to? Pl, yes my dd is in CH (I thinik someone ask) and 14 in CH got in.

Just to share with you, according to their P3 textbook, Sci Diversity, page 22, it says \"Mammals are the only animals that feed their young with milk. This is true of lions,...... and humans.\" So, now we know that we,\"human being\" is also an animal, hee hee, sound aweful but for sci reason need to categorised human being, hence put them under \"animal groups.\"

The CL teacher called a while ago to tell me she has given the paper 2 to my boy today.

When I asked did my boy pass the compo component, the first thing she said is cannot tell parents the marks. Hiaz, why like that? Anyway, her review is that the sentences need more elaboration and more good phrases shld be used, explanation more detailed. Luckily my boy does not hv the EL translated in CL problem. Phew. Tips for improvement: read more (as usual, the same tip).

so the correct answer in her mind is \"the plant will not die and will continue to grow and reproduce with the seeds in part A.\"

                        Well thought of.
