Like what you guys mentioned about \"tiny micro-organism\".
\"Micro\" is a technical term but not tiny. What is tiny to one person might not be tiny .. so it is very subjective, whereas \"micro\" is a more suitable technical term.
[quote]What are microorganisms?
Microorganisms are very tiny living things. They are so small that you need a microscope to see them. -
IJJ:
Btw, she has brought back all papers except Science yesterday.
We only hv the Chinese SA2 paper back. Not going back to sch tmr, sick again. Must be all those football games he has bn doing, caught a cold this time. hiaz, last week cough, this week cold. -
Jennifer:
Mine too, also not quite well, yet she could not rest until she is done with an email to her FT regarding another of her doubt. :lol:IJJ:

Btw, her FT told her 'Some can be very tiny.\" is right because some are very tiny, some are just tiny. I think either one of her friends or she questioned teacher about the times of magnification for tiny ones and that for very tiny ones. -

The power of an inquisitive mind! Good on her.

Has the class FT announced who are the pupils in the 1st 3 class position?

IIJ, her teacher was correct....some is tiny, some are very tiny....
if the teacher can explain and give examples to justify the question, i would think that it was a question well set. Now, kids will know what are the different types of microorganism and their size.
The size of microorganisms varies from a fraction of a μm for viruses, which can only be seen in the electron microscope, to several cm for filamentous algae or fungi, for example:
Organisms Size range (μm) Example (size in μm)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prokaryotes
Bacterium: typical rod 1.0-0.5 x 1.0-10 Pseudomonas aeruginosa (1.5 x 0.5)
Bacillus megaterium (7.6 x 2.4)
Bacterium: typical sphere 1.0 diam
Eukaryotes
Fungi: filamentous 8-15 x 4-8 Mucor hiemalis (8 diam)
Fungi: yeast cell Saccharomyces cerevisiae (29-49.1 μm3)
Alga 28-32 x 8-12 Chlamydomonas
Viruses
Virus 0.015 x 0.3 Poliovirus (0.03 x 0.03)
Tobacco mosaic (0.02 x 0.3) -
My dh received an SMS inviting p2 parents for a dialogue session with Mrs Foo tomorrow 6pm, at Hosanna, regarding views on class names.
