I did not have chance to talk to MT teacher yesterday as rushing for work. However, my friend (a chinese teacher fr other school) mentioned that the students will have to take 2 papers for exam, normal chinese & higher chinese, i think this should be the case. It is no point to learn higher chinese but not being tested.

That probably will happen in upper primary when they are tested on HMT but not for lower primary.

In other schools, HMT is only offered in P5 onwards.

i c, no wonder my friend said DLS is super kiasu
If you refer to DLS calendar, only P5 & P6 tested on HMT. Lower level only tested on NMT.

Actually, SVPS also offers HMT in P2. DLS is not the only \"KS\" School.
There's a school in Woodlands already offering HMT in P1, all kids will take HMT. My friends' kids are there and the standard is higher than DLS. They are supposed to write 5 sentences without helping words in Paper 1 for SA2(Pri 1).
Their English exam paper is also more difficult. There is cloze passage without any helping words at all.

As for Math exam, there is no MCQ at all, the kids need to find their own ans, cannot make any guessing at all.

YTPS only offers HMT in P5,that's why, I decided to reg my girl in DLS 'cos it will be \"too late\" to take HMT in P5 whereas other kids are already taking HMT in P2.

Actually, I also wonder how the teacher choose the student for recommendation of HMT?

My girl said two classmates not offered HMT in her MT class. Not sure what's the cut off point.

If i remembered correctly, we were told all subjects must be good before being offered HMT. If MT is good but other subjects no good, the school will not want the kid to take HMT cos must concentrate on the other subjects..

Make sense !! It is glad to hear that P2 is attending HMT but tested based on normal MT. MT teacher mentioned that the weightage for oral will be increased to almost 50% next year. True ?

hmmmmm! in fact i still think that for those who take HMT should tested based on HMT. Anyway, just follow the school policy & trust the teachers.

My boy (MT = 1H) told me that only 3 students are offering the HMT. It is surprised that the student 63/100 is being offered the HMT.

I am very upset today. My \"Sotong\" girl DIDN'T submit the HMT form by 12th Nov hence she is not able to opt for HMT. I talked to the form teacher she tried her best to talk to the HOD of MT but .......

The HOD of MT asked my girl to work hard and try it next year 😢

I cannot believe it. It’s ridiculous! Why not you write a formal letter to the principal? I don see any big deal by not submitting the form on time, unless the school need to submit the same to the MOE or else. No matter how, you should try again and maybe drop by the school & talk to HOD or the principal.
