There are usually 3 different scores on the test/exam sheets, your child’s, the class average and the level average. Most of the time you’ll see full marks under the level average. You won’t know what is the percentage of girls obtaining full marks. For me, I’ll look at the class average, as long as my girl’s marks is within the average score, I’m happy enough. Don’t stress them too much with all the different averages.

If one gets into RGPS from P1, I would say there is no advantage over any student in other schools in getting into RGS. But if one gets into RGPS in P4 via GEP then the chance would be higher to get into RGS. I would say the % of P6 students getting into RGS would definitely be higher than any school because of their GEP classes which can apply via DSA. So we should not assume that if we put the child there from P1 she would automatically stand a better chance. The GEP screening is during P3 and RGPS gets 3 classes (3 X 25 students each class = 75) of all the best students from all over SG to join them in P4. Eventually these GEP students will be the ones who stand the higher chance of getting into RGS.
It would be naive to assume that most RGPS girls would make it to RGS. COP at RGS is typically Top 3% of entire cohort. I doubt any school can churn out a MAJORITY of students scoring at Top 3% of cohort.verykiasu2010:
one would expect most of RGPS girls to make it to RGS....but competition being so stiff with COP at 260 or above, how many 260 does RGPS produce every year ?
would RGS ask RGPS to change name ?
A lot of RGPS girls make it to Crescent and St Margarets. The COP for these schools is 240 and 238 respectively. That would be about Top 20% of cohort (I'm guessing here). That is a very respectable result. -

I am just wondering if we strip out GEP's contribution, what will be the mainstreamer's aggregate PSLE score at RGPS?
To be frank, all the top primary schools have GEP programme. That's why I am more interested in their mainstreamers' average PSLE score, rather than the school's aggregate score which have an upward bias due to the GEP's contribution. -

RGPS mean score 234.7 PSLE 2009.
Parents whose kids had scored above 240 should take console of this fact even as many may not made it to their dream schools. For others, do not be overly obessed with GEP, sending kids for tuitions all over the island for all 4 subjects with the ultimate aim of scoring above 260. If is natural is good, if not balance in other non tested areas is the best. No need to overstress kids at this age. Let kids hve more play time and be exposed in non exam areas such as sports, arts, character building and communication skills.
After all, the most important placement exam is still the A-level/IB. -
