Hubby received an SMS from Pei Hwa last night...it seems ALMIGHTY asked interested parents to attend a briefing on 15/11 regarding the change of names for the classes for P5.

My hubby also recd an sms last night. So P3 onwards parents are invited?

My elder boy is a little unwell this evening. See how first. Hubby definitely cant make it.

Think likely she will deliver the same msg (aka made up her mind liao), then not much reason to go.

That day you went, did she explain the reason why the proposed change in class names and ranking methodology? How is she implementing the other aspects of remedial lessons, making sure a class size of 40 is taken care of? I hope she has good plans in place, else can be opening up another set of problems.

we also received the sms. Seems that they already decided to use the new system, and just to inform the parent about it during tomorrow's meeting.

so it will be reflected in the report book on Tue? :?

Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes.
Good to hear that all went well. Now be blessed with quick recovery.

Hope your elder ds is better today. Mrs Foo did not keep the parents for very long and she started on time.

Her reason for the proposed change was to improve the morale of the kids. As for the ranking methodology, she felt the abilities of the top 2 classes and the next 2 top classes are similar, so the S-banding was kept to S-80-S-80 instead of S-160. According to her, there is no change in the way kids were S-banded for the remaining classes. Therefore, we did not talk about how remedial lessons would be conducted, so the new set of problems is supposedly non-existent. Teachers will continue to conduct lessons as per normal, using their current procedures.

Btw, she mentioned she put all her BEST teachers in the P6, like her HODs. This is one serious misconception that she has, ya?

Usu. the HODs are assigned to the weaker P6 classes, think it is to maintain the overall passes %

BUT HODs are quite busy. Like the C5 my elder boy was in for the 1st semester P6, the CL HOD sometimes was absent due to other official duties and a relief teacher will take over the lesson.

Foundation shld be built from lower levels, by the time a more experienced teacher takes over the class, there might be too much to catch up and the pupil's morale is already low.

Think the children are better off doing the foundation building via tuition/parents' coaching instead of relying on the sch teachers.

                    Was there a Q&A session?

Ha! ha!, I like the way you say this. If the P has visited this thread, she would not have say that. Seeing how the HOD(sci, math) set or approve the SA papers, really let one feel frustrated and puzzled.

This year, PH does not hv a Maths HOD. If I remember correctly, the ex-VP was the HOD, she retired last year. Now only a Maths Level Head- Mdm Leow.

                        Sci HOD
