Compreh skills are definitely not taught in lower pri levels. My elder boy got the grasp of it only at end of P5 and I must give credit to his EL teacher then. Hm, maybe I should get my elder boy to set up a class to teach lower pri pupils and earn some pocket money in the sch hols :lol:I give one classic example. In SA1 for P1 this year, they have a comprehension question which asked something like \"how do they feel?\"
my son wrote \"they feel happy\" and was marked wrong (not even half a mark gievn) because the teacher said correct answer is \"they are happy\".
To be honest i still have a hard time accepting this. if i sat for the exam, I would have got it wrong myself, not to mention P1 kid. :lol: -

Oh really?! I am not aware of this event. Haha. Coincidentally, my family was at Sentosa yesterday morning too but went to the beach, not the Underwater World. Hmm...wonder who that girl is? Did you get the name? Do you mind pm-ing me? I have three girls but only eldest is in PH, the other two are much younger. -

Janet, if you had matched the titles of the books word for word, edition for edition, publisher for publisher, then shouldn't be a problem.

Qn36 sth like this: Mould grows in damp places. Bread B is kept very dry so it does not turn mouldy but Bread A has water on it so it turns mouldy. -

I agree with you it's very disheartening to see marks being refused by teachers...hubby found it hard to accept. We thought he could at least get a mark since he chose the correct option, but his teacher said no, bcos it is part of the question...as long as he did not make any comparisons, he is not entitled...then she added, 'PSLE standard'. I have a colleague whose daughter is in another school. According to my colleague, her dd's school is also practising marking paper by PSLE standard (her dd is P3 this year). I think it is better to mark exam papers according to PSLE standards. Not only it will be an “across the board” practice for all teachers and more importantly, both the kids and their parents will know where they stand. Eventually, the kids have to sit for psle exam. Frankly speaking, I prefer it to be this way.

In Case She Cannot Score for this Q, There R Still Others More \"NORMAL\" Kind OF Q's that She can Answer, I'm Sure.
This Type of Q is the \"CHALLENGING\" Ones to Let the \"SUPER-SMART\" Stand Out in their Results ....
With PH getting Good Results Every year in PSLE, Am Sure the Students R Drilled Well Enough in the 6 Years there ....
