The one room rental block we used to stay was probably very yin. This block was built in 1974, we moved in at the same time. In our 17 yrs of stay there, wierd things happened.

There was this lift repairman who got hang by the lift cables while repairing the lift - I saw his body being carried out of the lift shaft… then there was this female neighbour who threw her 2 young boys out of opposite block’s corridor, then jumped down herself… then, my indian neighbour had their pots and pans floating in the air… and then old man jumped down from our flat, another old folk died in his house for no reason… and I also witnessed a dying neighbour being stabbed by his older bro…

Could not go on the list… now my heart is beating faster and faster…

In 1988, HDB sent us a letter asking us to relocate. The reason was they were upgrading this block and the surrounding blocks. The whole block was cordoned off after all tenants moved out in 1989. I passed by this place many times and only in 1990 odd, HDB tore down only this one block and reduced it to merely green grass patches… but I wondered why the neighbouring one room rental blocks were not touched. They were only upgraded in 2000…

Only few years ago, maybe 2003/4, a new block of one room rental flat sprung up on the same ground, with a new look and fewer units per block… but with the same block number.

Yes, please share where it is... must make sure I don't end up staying there.. 🙏

This happened in a 3 room flat in Telok Blangah.

My first aunt’s last days - she had been bed-ridden for many years (at least 5 yrs) with full body paralysed from neck down. Could barely speak or eat too. For those years, she was taken care of by a maid and then a nurse.

My grandma and cousin (aunt’s son) were there to stay vigil during those final days. They slept in the living room on those mattresses on the ground, while my aunt had a bedroom to herself.

While they were sleeping, my grandma was awoken by someone who spoke in a foreign language. Just when she struggled to listen to what the person was saying, the sound stopped. She noticed that my cousin had woken up too to do the same thing, apparently both of them woke up becos of the same sound.

The next morning, my grandma went to my aunt’s bed. Her condition then had deteriorated in such that she could no longer speak, could only open her eyes and needed glucose to be injected intravenously. My grandma knew it was those things who had tried to come to take her away the night before. She told my aunt not to be scared and she will do up her funeral nicely (you can’t imagine how much it hurt my grandma when she said those words when 白发人送黑发人, plus my aunt had been her favourite daughter). My aunt’s tears wet her frail face to acknowledge her words.

For 2 consecutive nights, both grandma and cousin heard those foreign language and on the 3rd morning, my aunt passed away.

Oh, just feel like sharing a very heartcoming (at least to me) ghost story that I’ve encountered.

It was about my 姑姑 who died when I was in upper primary, can’t remember which year. She died rather suddenly, she was admitted to hospital bec she felt like fainting and was hospitalised immediately for they suspected blood cancer. So it took just a few weeks and she’s gone.

She’s the closest person to me, lived with us as she’s single and had doted on me. I was extremely upset when she died. Cried for many many days throughout her funeral and sometimes when I think of it, it still wets my eyes (like now).

After the funeral was done and her urn was placed in the Buddhist temple as she had instructed. I had a very weird dream (just a few days after the funeral was over). That she had gone to another place and she was wearing a pinkish red dress with floral prints on it. Told me she had come to see me to make sure I’m okay and to say ‘goodbye’.

I told my parents and they were shocked. Bec they had dressed her up in that pinkish red dress as I’ve described when she was taken to 火化. They didn’t let us see her corpse for fear that it would sadden us, so we didn’t really see what she wore on that day.

Few years later, I had a dream again that my aunt was bullied by her peers and she was made to do many many chores. I told my mum.

Another few years passed, I had a dream again. This time she asked me that why didn’t we write her name on the offerings made to her during Ching Ming. And she said that all the ‘money + paper house’ that we burnt for her during her funeral had her name wrongly written. So she is bullied there for all the ‘money’ we gave her over the years were snatched by all those other beings. She said that we need to buy her a wallet, with a credit card inside. And inside the credit card, write her name in it and all the money we burn for her will be received.

Reconciled with my mum the next day. And you know what my mum told me?

My mum said that the day when she burnt all the paper house and money for her funeral, it was taken care of by this guy in the temple. Meaning this guy has got to write her name for them. The receipt when it was all done up, it was really wrong. One of my aunt’s chinese characters was really written wrongly though the sound of it was the same. But they didn’t think too much of it then. They had pretty much assumed that it would just go to my aunt. And all the offerings that were burnt during Ching Ming had no name written on too.

That very Ching Ming, my mum bought the credit card and wallet as per told and we wrote down her name by ourselves.

My aunt didn’t visit my dream anymore.

Many donkey years down when I got married and had DS1. Got this weird dream again.

My aunt told me not miss her so much. Bec she had to come ‘up’ to see me as if I was summoning her. She told me to let her ‘go’. I was then brought to her world to see what she had achieved over the years - like a catch up session. She said that she found that someone and is ‘married’ and they had this big shipping business there. And she’s so busy now. And just when she was talking to me, her handphone rang. She spoke like a real busy business woman, you know.

That was her last dream to me - to let her go into her own world and ‘forget’ about her.

Still miss her secretly though, but I guess I had somehow let that deep attachment go that she didn’t come to visit me in her dream anymore.

What do you think? It’s not so scary right?

No it’s not scary… it’s sweet and my eyes sting with tears after reading that… sometimes we just have to let go… but deep inside…easier said than done…

                      Hmmm....

My second sister had a similar dream from my dad about kept telling her in her dream that \"the cheque was not signed and he couldn't take the money\"...

Then, she made sure that all the money and other offerings that we burnt subsequently had my dad's name written on the first piece of money on every stack...

This is just a few weeks ago...

                      Strange dreams...
Actually my mum took note of all the dreams reported by me (the dreams I've had is more than I've listed), and she said there is a pattern.

I always had dreams like that when it is during Ching Ming period and my aunt's death anniversary.

It's beside the coffee shop with the famous teo chew porridge. Those new build for old people flats? MIL leave near there and some times if DS go to grandma house, I will walk with DS home at night cutting throught that area. now my hair all stand liao
