hi..Did you sign up the starkids club for starcruise? Is the art and craft session free? I will be bringing my 4 yrs (gal) & 23 mth (boy) for 4 days 3 nights (Phuket & Penang) in Dec 10...need to bring thicker clothing for them???

During my time, I didn't as I sign up during promotion sale. The starkids club members are for kids with 2 full paying adults ( I think ). The cruise will have different prog. each time. Yes, it is free if they have such activities in the pg sheet. The ship (interior) is air-conditioned like inside a shopping mall. So, if your kids don't wear sweaters, then it won't be necessary. Outside, could be rather windy at certain part of the ship, good to have a wind breaker. Some of the on-shore trips (when the ship is on dock) are free but most of the trips with sighseeing/activities need to be paid. Have a good time and enjoy yourself with your family. 😄

Hi I just joined the forum, should have come in earlier.

I went to 3N Starcruise Virgo early this month with my DH and 4 year old DD & 18 months old DS and it's our first cruise for all.

Quite a good experience but I don't like boarding and disembarkation with young children. Super tiring.

I didn't leave my children in playroom or anywhere, they just follow us whenever we go.

Travelling with young children is tiring. All I remember is eat eat and eat.
More varieties at Deck 12 mediterranean buffet for kids. I didn't go Belle Vista for any meals exept for Gala dinner because of the dress code. Of course if I have a choice I only want to eat at Belle vista only but feeding children is such a chore! The food in mediterranean buffet taste only so so. Don't go with too high expectation 🙂

BTW, my cabin is not balcony but there's window (cannot open), I should get a balcony class cabin for good ventilation. The cabin is kind of small for 2 kids. No minibar in this cabin but there's a safe. Those with babies, can request bottle sterilisation by housekeeping staff and also request for a bath tub if necessary. Got the 2 single beds to join to become q queen size bed but need the housekeeping staff to get something to tie them up so that the beds don't separate when we sleep. I didn't join any tours or went anywhere.

Priority check in and check out for balcony class passenger. Q almost an hour to check in. The staff onboard were helpful and make our stay enjoyable.

Pictures taken during boarding, Gala dinner, can buy them 🙂

I signed up the cruise during Aug Nata sales about $2065 for all four of us to sail on Sunday.

For that kind of price, next time I would rather stay in hotel 🙂

Those who are sailing soon, enjoy!

Just came back from 3D2N Fri Cruise to KL. The Balcony is worth paying for ventilation and private night sky viewing (though quite polluted by light). My agent helped me request for a double bed as Balcony class also comes with 2 single beds. There's also a sofa bed that the evening room service will help to expand it to a queen bed, so we all sleep very comfortably with extra pillows and duvets. I'm impressed with the general maintenance of the ship. No problem with shower heating too and there's plenty of racks at the sink area to place milk bottles while washing :). Do look out for Early Bird discounts that gives free upgrade to balcony class.

My kids (4yo and 18mths) enjoyed the pool, arcade, table-tennis game, even sitting on the comfortable armchairs in the cozy library. They suddenly woke up at 3am to enjoy viewing the moon and stars with us. The kids happening activities are mostly at the Childcare centre where parents aren't allowed to enter, so they didn't get to do any of those as we did not leave them there. We did a brief origami session too. There's still a magic and acrobat show which we plan to catch in the evening, but they fell asleep as they missed their afternoon nap :P. My hb caught a glimpse of the acrobat show while doing early check-out and took a video of it to show me. Quite interesting. We were too lazy to hit the casino or watch the on-going performances or sign up for activities, so really just relaxed throughout. The cruise offers a cooking course with chef and Hatha Yoga, which I'll probably will do if I'm travelling without the kids :P. The sunrise at the uppermost Deck 13 was breath-taking with nice winds :).

Yes, most of the time eating and exploring the ship. Turned out to be a good thing we spent most of our dining credits at Noble House on our 1st dinner. We ordered fish and chicken porridge and seafood toufu that the younger one can take. Our older boy refused to share his noodle with daddy. I also find the Mediterranean Food below my expectation and it's not Mediterranean to me, but they have breakfast cereals and more variety. Bella Vista serves nice food in nice cozy ambience. Dinner at the Chinese restaurant serves a set consisting of tasty lotus with pork rib soup, long beans, fish, spare ribs and jellyfish starters. There's also supper that serves pizza and my hb was surprised to see more kids there when he brought our boy for supper. A pity we had to rush a bit for our last breakfast at Bella Vista (nice omelettes) as need to place our check-in luggage by 9am outside the corridor for collection.

While waiting to dock at Singapore, we had our last tour of the ship, to the Lido theatres and Galaxy of Stars which we missed earlier. Overall, my family enjoyed the relaxing cruise.

The childcare centre charges about $40, can’t remember the exact figure and whether it’s for per day basis.

Yes, there’s mobile reception, but no WiFi in the rooms.
