      Thanks for your offer but...

      1. I'm just appalled at how journalists work. Just for the sake of 'readership'. Upset - yes. Anguish - no.

      2. As a teacher and tutor, we are usually not bothered by such things unless it affects our reputation. As the other parents here have posted, they understand that I'm not like what they said in the article, so no harm done.

      3. Why kick up a fuss and provide them with more news? They did not mention my name or nick, so just leave it as that. Sometimes, the more you stir things up, the worse it gets. 越描越黑 - The more you try to explain, the worse it gets.

Also, what effect had the article on me?
Erm, actually, I did not even know it exists until someone posted the link here. And when I finally read it, it just feels upsetting to be misunderstood. Not to the extend of feeling 'anguish'.

So, seriously, no harm done. In fact, I got positive responses from parents who assure me that I'm doing the right thing by sharing with them. 🙂 And I will continue to do so!

Psst, seriously, if you are teaching that many students to be considered a 'full time tutor', how come you have so much time for such an interview when it's exam period now? Cos I'm up to my neck with lessons and only manage to come into forum during my short little few minutes break between lessons.
      Dear Mrs Wong,

I am glad that everything is alright on your side now. I can see that you are a very committed and experienced tutor and i wish i could reach your level one day. : )

Anyway just to clarify things and answer your question (in the small font) at the end, Yes i am a full time tutor. The 10 min long interview was conducted over the phone (while i was travelling between my tuition slots) so as you can see its all a matter of time management. Oh and mobile internet helps at lot too! Allows me to answer emails on the go.

How i juggle accountancy school (it was worse last time when i was still in dental school... i used to joke that i never saw the sun! I had to do my daily exercise at 12 midnight! lol), help out at my mom's business (Thank god for good and trusted workers) and yet still be able to teach my students while running all over Singapore is really a mystery i myself can't explain satisfactorily! I guess managing time and having a strict schedule is very impt! Anyway i've to go off now. Its tution non-stop all the way until tonight.

      Yours

Hi Parents of child taking PSLE 2011,

I was looking through the calendar to plan for holidays and noticed that : Due to the change in Children day to first Friday of Oct wef next year instead of the usual 1st Oct, next year’s Children Day falls on 7 Oct 2011, which is in between the usual PSLE Written Paper period.

Usual PSLE starts on Wed of 1st week of Oct till the following Tue (last paper HMT).
In this case, it is possible that the PSLE 2011 will start as usual on Wed (5th Oct) EL, Thur (6th Oct) Maths, with a break on 7th Oct Children Day, then continue with following Mon (MT), Tue (Science) and Wed (HMT).
Or it can also starts on Tue(4th Oct), have a break on 7th Oct and last paper (HMT) on following Tue.
Or may be a total change from usual dates?!!
Any guess ? Not sure if there is discussion on this before in this forum?

Though it is a good intention to change the Children’s Day to a Fri for a long weekend break, however for the P6 children, it is their last Children’s Day and yet fall between PSLE…sure very special and unforgettable…

Though it is a good intention to change the Children's Day to a Fri for a long weekend break, however for the P6 children, it is their last Children's Day and yet fall between PSLE....sure very special and unforgettable..
There might be a few possiblities:
          1. PSLE will end BEFORE 7 Oct.
          2. PSLE will be split into before Children's Day and after Children's Day

If you want your views to be heard, best to email to MOR/SEAB before they make the decision on the dates.

I personally would prefer that they finish the papers BEFORE Children's Day to let them have a fun and well-deserved break (and maybe they could have their class graduation party on that day too).

Already newspapers and websites are advertising on Enrichment classes, PSLE 2011 coaching classes etc and as parents of PSLE 2011 child, we are already getting panicky, seeing the (over)enthusiasm of Parents from the same league. Can Parents of ex-PSLE children suggest some ways for stress management for the entire family? 😢
I was a 2009 PSLE parent and now a wannabe 2011 PSLE parent a second time..Im still scratching my head and ask how to start where to start.. :?

haha i don’t think there is a need for worry just yet… your child still hasn’t gone through their p6 curriculum (which in my opinion takes up a greater percentage of the psle paper especially in maths and science). maybe a good way to start is to have a headstart to the p6 curriculum if you haven’t done so. by perparing early and grasping the concepts earlier than the rest, you would naturally have more time to revise and prepare for psle.
